"how are you?" sirius asks as he crawls into bed with her, wrapping his arms around her waist. she takes a deep breath, as she closes her eyes.

"peachy. how are you?" she asks softly, before turning around to face him and he smiles weakly. it was clear how much regulus' death affected them both.

"peachy." he answers, putting a hand on her jaw and pulling her up to him to peck her lips, before kissing her forehead. she smiles softly, before she looks back up at him. "when we younger, before hogwarts. we'd always sit on the piano together and just play. our parents had insisted on us learning and i hated doing it, but it quickly became a thing for us to do if we didn't want to put up with our parents. we'd play on each side, sometimes trying to mess each other's focus. once we did it all day long. it was the day i left, i think he knew already that i was leaving."

"he always had a way of telling when something was going wrong or going to happen." katherine muses and sirius nods in agreement. "could you... could you play for me? i mean the piano?"

"of course, darling." he says with a loving smile, before they both get out of bed and he takes her hand. they walks downstairs, to the living room where the piano is sitting. silently they sit down on the piano bench and sirius slowly starts to play a tune. katherine rests her head on his shoulder as she watches his hand expertly move over the keys. the only sound in the house is the piano playing. he suddenly stops playing, making her sit up and look at him questioningly. "do you think we'll be able to get through this?"

"sirius, of course. it's hard. but we'll get through this. if not for our sake, for his. he'd hate for us to be this miserable." she hums, making him chuckle as he looks at her with a loving smile. "i love you."

"i love you too." he says before pecking her lips and she smiles back at him. "promise me it'll always be us two against the world, no matter what."

"i promise. you and i against the world forever." she states firmly and he pecks her lip again. he glances at the piano and an idea pops into his mind, making him smirk.

"you ever play the piano?" he asks, making her shake her head nervously and he chuckles softly. he takes her hand and pulls her onto his lap, before resting his chin on her shoulder and placing her hands on the keys. "it's not too hard."

"easy for you to say, sirius. you've been playing since birth." she huffs and he snorts, as he puts his hands over hers. he slowly presses on her fingers to play a simple tune and she can't help but smile as her heart swells. she could only wish that moments like this lasted forever.

"see? you're basically a professional at this point." he says teasingly, making her snort and shake her head. he stops helping her, making her stop playing, unsure what to do. "well, go on. play something."

"you bloody fool. i can't play anything! you can't genuinely except me to be able to play something, after that." katherine says in disbelief and he chuckles.

"of course! you're professional now. you could make mozart jealous." he says teasingly, making her look at him over his shoulder with a look. she moves to sit side ways on his lap, so that she can look at him better.

"you're an absolute idiot." she giggles, making him chuckle. katherine realised now that even though they were still hurting from the loss of someone they loved dearly, she knew deep down that things were going to be okay as long as they had each other.
