epilogue

harry looks through the pages of the photo album, smiling softly as he looks at the pictures of his family. he stops on one particular picture and his smile widens even more. his mother, godmother and his uncle remus are standing in the middle as his father and godfather are messing around. his two friends join him and sit down next to them.

"i feel like your father and sirius were really just a pain in their behinds." ron weasley muses as he looks at the picture, making harry snicker.

"you're not being fair here, ronald." sirius huffs as he walks up to them and ron smiles sheepishly. sirius notices the picture and smiles fondly. "but i must admit, that day i'm pretty sure katherine nearly hexed me out of annoyance."

"well, that's a lie. it's not just that day i want to hex you out of annoyance." katherine snorts as she joins them and hermione granger snicker as sirius playfully glares at her. "this was actually the day your father proposed to your mother. i think i might have cried more than she did."

"i feel like that's something you'd do, katherine. you're bit of an emotional mess." ron says, making katherine give him a look.

"ron, you're not funny. stop it." she says with an amused smile and he can't help but smirk.

"what's going on here?" remus asks as he walks up to the five gathered in the living room. he notices the photo album and smiles happily to himself. "ah, memory lane i see."

"you guys actually never told us what happened after katherine woke up from the coma." harry says and sirius looks at his wife, who smiles softly at harry.

"well, dumbledore created two tasks forces. one to attack voldemort and another to destroy the horcrux. sirius and i left to destroy the horcrux, while remus stayed behind to attack voldemort. unfortunately things didn't go as planned, we lost more people than expected. but we defeated the dark lord. it took us seven months to find all the horcrux and destroy them." katherine explains to the three kids sitting in the couch and they smile happily.

"that's so cool. then you guys came back and got married right?" hermione asks in excitement, making katherine smile and nod as sirius smirks.

"and guess what, kids? i got to be maid of honour." james says with the widest grin ever as he walks in the room. "i will not lie, i actually cried when katherine asked me to be her maid of honour."

"and i was sirius' best man. while remus walked katherine down. it was us five, dumbledore, hagrid and minerva. those are the only people there that day." lily hums as she sits on the arm rest of the couch, next to hermione.

"it was small. extremely small wedding. but it was one of the best days of my life." sirius grins happily making katherine blush softly.

"and how come you guys never had kids?" hermione asks softly, making katherine smile sadly.

"because, when my brother nearly tried to kill me. he left a lot more damage than we thought. but you know what it's fine. because we have you three up to no good fools, to take care of." katherine smiles, making the three smile, just as the weasley twins walk in. "and those two as well."

"you love us, katherine." fred smirks, making her roll her eyes as the rest of the weasley family joins, as well as remus' wife, nymphadora tonks.

"that's debatable, fred. really debatable." katherine says sternly, making the twins snicker. it scared her sometimes just how much the twins reminded her of sirius and james, when they were students in hogwarts.

"oh, george and fred. james and i wanted to give you a little something for when you guys go back to hogwarts. i think you two will find it extremely interesting." sirius smirks, making katherine give him a look of disbelief. 

"don't be a bad influence on them, sirius!"

"i'm pretty sure they're doing this on purpose so that they can get called in by minerva, to annoy her." lily muses, making james and sirius smile sheepishly.

"we can't have her miss us too much." james says with a shrug and every laughs. katherine rolls her eyes at them playfully, before looking at sirius with a soft smile.

things hadn't turned out how they thought it would, they had thought by now they'd have a child of their own or more than one. they hadn't expected to lose more than what they bargained on the way. but it didn't matter to them anymore. they had all the people they needed, they had their family that had expanded and was still expanding. and even if they'd never have their kids of their own, with the weasley twins, the golden trio and ginny, they had enough mischief in their hands. they couldn't be happier than they are now.
