Chapter 20

Riley's POV:

Maya was here last night and told me what happened.

So Lucas likes Maya? I see. It will get pretty interesting today because I have no idea how Maya will act around him.

I hear the phone ringing and run to it.

"Hello?" I say.

"Hey Riles. It's me. Maya. I won't come to school today.. I'm umm sick"

Yea sure you are.

"Okey then. Get well soon" I say in a goodbye tone.

"Thank you Riley. Bye" she says.

I head out of my apartment and take the subway like always.

I'm at school now and have to go to my locker. My gym stuff is in there.

I open it and hear someone coming towards my locker.

"Lady" Farkle says while smirking.

"Hey farkle" I chuckle a bit.

"Where's maya?"

"Oh she's sick"

"Oh okey then. We have gym class. So are you coming?" He says.

"Yep. Got my stuff right here" I say while showing him my bag.

He takes my hand and we walk to gym class.

When we get there I see Lucas sitting on a bench looking down.

I walk to him and sit down.

"Hey there" I say.

He turns his head "oh hi"

Lucas looks around the room. Probably searching for Maya.

"She isn't here" I say to him.

He looks confused at first but says "where is she?"

"At home. She's sick. At least that's what she said"

"Oh"

Mr Louvery comes in and wishes everyone a good morning.

"We're gonna play soccer today. But first we will practice a little. We need two people who get the balls from the other room"

Mr Louvery looks around and picks me and Lucas to get the soccer balls for everybody.

Farkle looks at me kind of confused and hurt. What's up with that?

Me and Lucas start walking to the room where they keep the gym stuff.

"So... Maya told me what happened" I whisper to him because we're not out of here yet.

"Yea whatever. Can we please don't talk about this?" He says in a hurt tone.

"Look, she had her reasons"

"What reasons? That she doesn't like me? I get that. I wouldn't date myself to. I'm a jerk" Lucas says while opening the door where the gym stuff is inside.

"Stop saying that. No you're not. Everybody makes mistakes"

"Mhm"

"She likes you" I say.

He turns his head so he was facing me.

"Stop playing with me Riley"

"I'm not playing. She does like you. She said no when you asked her out because she thinks that she doesn't deserve you" I almost yell at him.

He doesn't say anything. He just stays there and looks at me shocked.
