"okay, mom. i'll be careful driving, don't worry."

"i love you, big sis! come home with some presents!" my little brother, christian, says with a cute smile. he was almost 13, but acted like he was 8 or 9.

"okay lil dude. be good for mom and dad, okay? i'll be back before you know it." i smile and ruffle his hair.

"bye, sweetheart, you be good there. make sure you call us everyday!"

"bye, dad, love you."

i take off in my car as my GPS takes me through the roads. i don't know what to think of what is going to happen this summer. my parents and i make a compromise about my paychecks. every two paychecks were mine to keep and start saving for whatever.

multiple hours and fast food meals later, i was pulling up to the camp. my first impression? damn. the place was huge, no wonder they were running low of consolers.

i step out of my car and grab my bags then start looking for someone who looks like they know what they're doing. almost immediately, a boy who looked too tall to be my age came over to me.

"you must be brin! welcome to summer camp! i can show you where you need to go." he speaks with a heavier australian accent than mine. he sounded like a fucking kangaroo.

i don't know what to think of him. his hair was wavy and he has beautiful hazel eyes. his voice was hot. he's lean and tall, probably a total sweetheart.

"oh... uh, thanks. i'm just a little confused about how you know who i am." i say with a questioning tone although there wasn't even a question.

"my bad! the camp lets me know most things since i have been here the longest. i totally forgot to introduce myself," he says turning around to face me. "i'm ashton, i'm 21 and nice to meet you," he says offering a hand

i place my extremely small hand into his large ones and give a small smile.

"this would be the time where i would say that my name is brin, but you already know." i giggle while he laughs loudly.

"well let's head over there and we can get you all set up. you're going to be with me since you're new. we have the third graders this summer. i know most of the kids, but don't worry, you'll get to know them. they're sweet and i'm sure they'll love you."

"alright. i like the sound of this."

"you'll like it here, by the end of this you won't want to go home." ashton smiles as he continues to guide me through the camp.

there was no doubt in my mind that this summer was going to be great. i already met an amazing person who seemed so helpful. we walk in silence for mulitple more minutes before stopping in front of a person at a desk.

"hey, ashton. what can i help you with?" the person barely looks up from whatever she was doing.

"this is brin! she's the new worker here, i'm helping her get everything settled," he smiles at her. i could tell he was quite the pleaser. "just verify your information and we can get you to your cabin. i'm almost positive that you're in the same cabin as me. we're near our campers for saftey reasons," he explains.

i nod my head and walk in front of the desk. i look over everything and give a small nod because all of the information seems to be right.

"i think we're all good." i say quietly. i am not the one to speak loudly when first meeting new people.

"alright, let's head to our cabin. oh and you'll need this," he hands me a key that is going to be needed for our cabin.

not a short walk later, we arrived at the cabin. failing to realize i left my bags at the car, i lay down on my bed and let out a loud sigh. it was smaller cabin that was obviously meant for two people. when i sit up ashton was laughing at me.

"what? i don't enjoy driving for long amounts of time. it was like 5 hours to get here. oh shit, i was supposed to call my mom so she doesn't have a heart attack." i say much more alert this time.

apparently ashton found this quite funny because he looked like he was losing breath from laughing. i eye him as i stand up and wait for my mother to answer my phone call. the phone rings and rings until it hits her voice mail. frustrated, i slam my phone down on the bed and look around the cabin.

i walk over to the window and watch older people start to set up the place. the camp is massive and i don't understand how this place stays maintained. i wonder how many people actually work here. how do they pay these people? how many campers come to this place? a sudden noise startles me from my gazing as i slowly realize it's my phone blaring green day's american idiot.

"nice ringtone choice. i'm starting to like you more and more as this day goes on." he smirks as i blush at the ground.

"you made me blush and now i'm going to be all nervous to talk to my mother. she's going to ask me about who i've met and i won't be able to say anything, watch." i playfully glare at him as answer the call and put it on speaker.

"hi, brin! how are things going there? are you okay? who have you met? any boys?" she asks rapid fire and i can already feel my cheeks warming up.

"she's doing great! she'll settle in this place just fine!" he yells over my shoulder.

"brin? is that a boy, he sounds attractive!" my mom says happily. i never really had a proper boyfriend because of the constant fear of getting hurt.

"yes, it is a boy. i'm doing alright. how are things at home? is everyone okay?" i ask her.

"we're all good. i want to video chat with you soon. i can't wait to see you." she rushes the words out of her mouth.

"alright, mom. i only left a couple hours ago, how are you going to get through a whole summer without me?"

"i don't know that yet. i should let you go now, tell that boy i said hi. goodbye, brin, i love you." she says and i can tell she's smiling.

"love you." i say and hang up quickly.

"she seems nice. i can't wait to meet her when i come home as you boyfriend. i bet she'll be happy." ashton smirks once again and this time i notice his dimples.

"you know, you're pretty damn cocky. and if you keep smirking your face will get stuck like that." i put a smug look on my face and poke his dimple.

ashton... wow.
