Another salty tear rolled down Oikawa's cheek as he laid, staying as quiet as he could. He didn't want to alarm his team with the sound of his crying so he buried his head into the soft fabric of his pillow case. It smelled of the lavender that Iwaizumi had sprayed it with the day before. The thought only further upset the brunette as he realized he couldn't get up to at least tell Iwaizumi he wanted a hug.
He sniffed loudly and wiped the tears from his cheeks. "Come on... You're the Great King. You're better than a damn knee injury."
He attempted at moving his knee but immediately stopped as a surge of pain coursed through his veins. He clutched his sheets and held back a sob. Even the pain medication was in the kitchen with his team. He wanted to get it but just couldn't bare the pain of his knee.
He rolled onto his side and looked at his phone screen through his blurry eyes. He was tempted to just text the other boy but knew Iwaizumi never paid attention to his phone while talking to a group of people. Oikawa bit his lip and sighed.
"I need to get up..." He mumbled. He swung his good leg over the side of the bed and set it down on the floor. Then, he tried his other leg. Pain rushed into his knee and he gasped. "Shit..."
He straightened his good leg, attempting at keeping his balance. When he finally stood without the other leg he sighed in relief. That is until he had to bite back a sob. He continued to add pressure to the spot until he was shakily standing. It was a bit of a struggle to get to the door but he managed and leaned against it.
"It hurts... No. I'm fine." He straightened back up and bit his lip. The door opened quietly as he stepped into the hall. "Just a few feet and then downstairs... I'll prove to Iwa I can still move."
He stepped with his good leg, then his injured. Every time he stepped with that leg he had to hold back a scream of pain or a sob. At one point he forced himself to lean against the wall and stop so his knee could rest. It didn't stop him from walking again to the end of the hall.
When he stepped onto the stairway everything started going down. Literally. He collapsed on the second stair, his body shaking with pain. For a few moments he just sat there. Then the tears started coming back. This time it wasn't him being sad about his situation. It was pain.
Every single part of his body ached from forcing himself to move so much. "Iwa-chan..."
No response.
"Iwa!" He called, this time it was louder. Oikawa attempted to stand but collapsed back onto the stairs. "IWAIZUMI!"
Several chairs clattered from the kitchen and suddenly his whole team was at the bottom of the stairs. Iwaizumi rushed to the crying boy's side and lifted him up. "You are a dumbass. What are you doing out of bed?"
"Iwa..." Oikawa sobbed. No one else but the boy holding him had ever seen him so vulnerable and didn't know what to say. Iwaizumi walked down the stairs with the shaking boy in his arms.
"I know Oikawa. Hang on." He set him down in a chair and retrieved a small bottle of medication from the cabinet. He gave it to Oikawa and got out and ice pack. He pressed it to Oikawa's knee carefully with one hand and set the other hand on the brunette's face. "You're okay. The pain will go away in just a few moments. It's okay."
Oikawa continued to cry quietly as Iwaizumi stroked his cheek with worry. "I'm sorry Iwa..."
"Be quiet." He mumbled. Iwaizumi placed both hands on the bandaged knee and sighed deeply. "Did you put them on too tight too?"
"I think so... I really am sorry... I just wanted to show you I could walk." Oikawa sobbed. The teammates behind Iwaizumi tensed and waited for the short tempered response.
"I'm not mad." He whispered. He pressed his lips to the bandages and closed his eyes. "Be careful."
Oikawa stayed silent as Iwaizumi kept gently pressing his lips to the spot over and over again. The pain slowly ebbed away as the medication settled in and Oikawa's tears slowly stopped. Iwa looked up and his brows lowered in worry. "Iwa-chan?"
"What is it?"
"I... I'll be able to play again, right?"
"What?!" Suddenly, Oikawa had two arms wrapped around him securely. "Of course you are, you dumbass. Don't say things like that."
Oikawa smiled and returned the embrace. "Thanks Iwa-chan..."
"Of course." He backed away and glared at him. "Now what made you think I didn't know you could walk?! You are such a damn pain..."
Oikawa stared up at him and then smiled. Suddenly, he burst out laughing and eased himself up. He leaned against Iwaizumi and chuckled. "You wanna watch a movie guys?"
Some people stared at him, astonished. "W-weren't you just-"
"I asked a question." Oikawa growled, his smile darkening.
"S-sure."
"Cool! Iwa-chan, a little help?" Oikawa said brightly. Iwaizumi rolled his eyes and picked the boy up. "Thank you! To the couch!"
"I will drop you on the floor right now." Iwaizumi threatened before walking into the living room and sitting down. Oikawa remained in his lap without protest and started scrolling through channels. Eventually he found one and everyone settled on the couches, chairs, and even the floor.
"Matsu? Can you get me a blanket from that basket next to you? Thanks." Oikawa asked. Iwaizumi watched as the brunette tried to spread the blanket over himself without bending his knee.
"Oh for Heaven's sake..." He muttered and grabbed the blanket, wrapping it around the boy. "Happy now?"
"O-oh. Thanks Iwa-chan!" Oikawa answered happily and smiled. Iwaizumi blushed and flicked the brunette's forehead. Oikawa jolted from the sudden pain and yelped. "Ow! What was that for you big meanie?!"
"You talk like a child. Watch the movie idiot." The other male answered roughly. Oikawa stuck his tongue out playfully and turned towards the screen. Eventually, the brunette began to yawn and rub his eyes in hopes of waking himself up a bit. Iwaizumi tensed when his head leaned against his chest and light snoring emitted from the boy. He moved an arm around him and sighed, slightly concerned.
"Dumbass..." Oikawa sneezed and snuggled his head into the middle of Iwaizumi's chest. He blushed again and ran a hand through the boy's hair. "Don't make me worry about you."
Oikawa didn't respond, he just laid there peacefully. Iwaizumi kept running his fingers through his hair with a content look upon his face. He pressed his lips to his forehead and smiled.
"God I love you..."
