Sakusa looked to the couch where Atsumu was laying, worried. Usually he didn't get this quiet. He would have gotten up to help with dishes a while ago but right now he was wrapped in a blanket Sakusa avoided. It had a weird rough texture and was stressful to deal with sometimes.
Atsumu looked up from staring at the TV and looked at Sakusa. "Omi..."
"Hm?"
"Did you make coffee?"
"I heated some up earlier."
Atsumu curled in on himself. "Oh..."
"What's wrong?" Sakusa took of the gloves he needed for the sink and crouched down by his partner.
"My body has decided it doesn't like the smell of coffee." Atsumu's eyes filled with tears. "And I keep noticing stupid things everywhere."
Sakusa forced himself to put his hands forward. He hadn't prepared to touch Atsumu that morning yet but it would be okay. He pulled Atsumu up and into a hug. "Do you want to go outside and take in some fresh air?"
Atsumu nodded shakily. He didn't move though and Sakusa waited.
"I'm going to let go, okay?"
"Omi no..."
"It's okay. I'll be right back." He rushed back to his room and grabbed stim toys and Atsumu's favorite blanket. "I'm back. It's okay."
Atsumu took to blanket and an anxiety tangle before holding onto Sakusa, trying to calm back down.
Sakusa kissed his hair and put his arms around him where he knew he liked it, right around his waist and under his arms. "Do you want to go cuddle in the closet?"
"That would be really nice."
Sakusa lead him to their room and opened the closet door. They had purposefully gone for this apartment because it had a large closet that Atsumu could go to when he was overwhelmed. It had soft blue fairy lights and had a bucket of stim toys and several blankets and pillows. He also had water and little cracker packets. It was his safe haven.
Sakusa eased him into the area and laid down with him, curling up with him. "I've got you."
Atsumu sniffled and curled into his chest. "Thank you." He closed his eyes and relaxed, pulling at Sakusa's shirt. His stims were subtle and no one thought of them.
Atsumu was glad too, seeing that he wasn't suspected of anything. He'd only gotten in three situations where he was in a bad situation because he was autistic and he had hated all of them so much.
The first one, he had gotten some sort of drink dumped on him because he couldn't stop talking. The second one he ended up getting a shattered wrist.
The third one ended in a meltdown that Sakusa had spotted and within the two hour period, he learned how to calm Atsumu and how much his hands hurt when they hit.
"I love you Omi."
Sakusa smiled tiredly. "I love you too."
"I love you more!" Atsumu pinned him down and smiled. He kissed Sakusa's forehead. "More than my lights."
Sakusa raised his brows.
"Okay maybe not more than my lights. But more than dying my hair."
"Well thank you." Sakusa shifted Atsumu's weight so it wouldn't press his stomach and let him sit on his hips. Atsumu just sat there, staring at the lights and touching them curiously. Sakusa put him back on his chest and rubbed his back gently. "You did a good job calming down this time."
"No more coffee."
"Alright, no more coffee."
Atsumu smiled. He snuggled closer and held one of Sakusa's hands, soft from the warm water in the sink. Atsumu kissed his knuckles, forgetting about Sakusa's hatred of that. Sakusa stayed still though and let him kiss his fingers and palms, down to his wrist. Sakusa rubbed Atsumu's hair and cheek, observing the blond in his arms. "Omi you have such pretty skin..."
"Atsu, baby, do you need a nap?"
Atsumu looked up and laughed. "Since when do you call me baby?"
Sakusa turned on his side and closed his eyes. "I could go for a nap."
"You didn't answer question," Atsumu whined. He wiggled and spotted a dark blue blanket. He grabbed the blanket and rubbed his arms. "Osamu bought me this for Christmas when we were little."
"Oh really?"
"Yeah. He has one that looks like it. Because we're twins."
"Mm..."
"You know, sometimes you can feel your pulse in your tongue."
Sakusa opened his eyes. "Why do you even know that?"
"Cause when I can't sleep I feel my pulse or yours. Not that I stick my hand in your mouth cause I'm not an idiot."
"Ah... would you like to do that when both of us are falling asleep like we do with the pulling?"
"If it doesn't bother you I'd be fine with it."
Sakusa nodded. His eyes closed again. "Lights out for me."
"The metaphor-?"
"Yes. Don't turn off your lights. Please lay down."
Atsumu huddled close to him and pecked his lips. "Omi kiss me."
Sakusa kissed Atsumu gently before yawning and pressing his forehead with Atsumu's. "I gave you your kiss, now let me sleep okay?"
"Of course!" Atsumu stayed still, or as still as he could.
"Go ahead and pull on my shirt. I don't mind."
Atsumu pulled the fabric gently, watching as Sakusa fell asleep. He didn't smell like coffee. He smelled like the cologne Atsumu had gotten him. One that was light and that didn't set either of them off. Sakusa gently pulled on Atsumu's clothing until he feel asleep. Atsumu cradled him, smiling at the beautiful boy in his arms. He loved the fact that Sakusa knew what to do when he felt off. He always knew just what to do.
