I mean when you actually know
You've heard stories
You've seen pictures
You've read books
You even shared that universal sympathetic look
You know from them
but not from you
You know their pain
but can't feel it unless you've felt it too
You can't sing the blues
until you too understand the singer's soul's tune
It's different when you know
I mean when you actually know
I mean when you break free to fly on your own
I mean when you actually turn on the lights
I mean when you actually wear the glasses with the clear lenses made for you
instead of the blurry ones given to you
I mean when you actually know.
