Caitlin pov
'I thought we agreed we would go out for lunch?" Iris complained as we waited for our food to be served. We are all having lunch at this fancy steakhouse that Liam booked us a reservation while we drove in the horrible New York traffic.
"We are" Cisco argued narrowing his eyes at her eyes.
"A peaceful lunch, no metahuman talk, no theorizing please" Iris added giving Cisco the same glare he gave her.
"Why not? We're like VIP area. No one is around to hear us" Cisco challenged.
"You know what? Fine. You can't take the nerd out Cisco" Iris sighed in frustration surrendering.
"Thank you very much" Cisco smiled proudly.
"It's not a compliment" Iris claimed shaking her disapprovingly.
"Whatever" Cisco pouted.
"I think I have a new theory" Liam perked grabbing everyone's attention.
"Like we've theorized before the magnetic field is trying to impose its natural law. But the real question to ask here: why has this not happened before?" Liam said pausing momentarily to ensure everyone was following his train of thought. We all nodded eagerly for him to proceeded.
" Well I think the most logical explanation would be that Barry and Caitlin used to be constantly expose to each other, their powers were conditioned to interact with each other due to their environment. Think about it. They would spend the majority of their time working with each other in the lab. So as a defense mechanism, their powers had to learn to adapt to the natural phenomenon. Caitlin's and Barry's powers had to learn to coexist." Liam added while all of nodded our heads in agreement.
"But when Caitlin and I moved away. To the other side of world. Well that's a geographic factor that aided in allowing their powers to take their primitive roles in their negative correlations with one another. So since their powers haven't been exposed to one another in a while, they are now refusing to interact with each other altogether. Natural state of law" Liam concluded taking a deep inhale to catch his breath.
"That...makes sense..." Cisco perked hesitantly.
"It's like a virus, the more we're expose to it, the more immunity we create to help fight it" I explained with a medical analogy.
"So we're like a virus to each other now?" Barry questioned sharply offended by my implication.
"She doesn't mean a literal virus babe, she's just trying to stupefy it for those of us that don't have a PhD in science" Iris explained in my defense rubbing Barry's back in comfort.
"Speed and Cold don't interact with each other. They are opposite energetic fields. It's nature trying to align energies to its corresponding state. It's basic science Barry" I replied equally as sharply glaring at him from the opposite side of the table.
Barry and I sat in opposite sides of the big large table to avoid a replica of what happened in the lab earlier.
"Power dampeners are obviously not the solution" Cisco added to the conversation.
"You think so?" Barry and I snapped simultaneously.
"Geez. Alright grumpy pants" Cisco replied defensively placing his hands up.
"Like with any other virus, we have to create an antidote" Liam encouraged softly placing a hand on my knee.
I glanced at him offering a small smile in return.
"Alright. Sounds like a plan" Iris agreed smiling at Barry in comfort.
"I guess so..." Barry replied dryly
"We will figure something out. We're Team Flash" Cisco perked excitedly making smile in nostalgia.
"Are we?" Barry said bitterly. I felt a dire need to snap at his pessimistic and rude attitude but we were bombarded by the West family rushing in with kids running towards our table.
"Team Flash but make it parent edition" Iris humored lightly as Nora sat on Barry's lap earning a small grin from him.
Tyler also sat down but in his own chair acting as if he were a grown up.
"Hi Tyler" I smiled as he suited himself in between me and Cisco.
"Hi titi Cay" He mumbled from my side with a small smile.
I smiled brightly at him at the mentioned of my name.
"You can say my name now?" I exclaimed excitedly looking up at Cisco.
"He learned it last week. I guess all my constant nagging paid off" He smiled proudly.
"Wow" I faked being in utter amazement as Tyler continued to utter 'Cay' under his breath with a toothy grin.
"Can you say Liam?" my boyfriend excitedly encouraged leaning forward towards the smiley Tyler.
Liam loves kids. He grew up in a big family. Kids were always a part of him growing up so he knows how to handle them.
"Yiamm" Tyler smiled shyly hiding behind my arm
"Yes" Liam smiled happily.
"Don't be shy with your uncle Ty-ty" Gypsy smile ruffling his long hair out of the way.
"Let's go say hi to auntie Caitlin" Iris said in the distance. I could see her grab Nora's hand and pull her off Barry's lap.
They made their way to me with Nora skipping happily towards me.
"Hi auntie Cait" Nora smiled giving a hug. I felt tingles at her touch but they were painful.
"Hi Nora" I smiled
"you didn't call last week" Nora perked sadly.
I should mention that due to Nora's speed powers, her brain develops at a faster rate than other kids her age. Even though she may be two. She has the intellect of a 6 year old.
"I know I'm sorry I got so busy with work I wasn't able to call" I apologized with a small pout.
"I forgive you auntie Cait" She smiled innocently.
"You conditioned her to expect a call every week. Its your fault" Iris commented on Nora's fierce attitude.
"I take full responsibility" I whispered back making Iris chuckled.
"This family dinner is nice. I've needed it" I admitted whole heartedly facing Cisco.
"Me too Cait" He smiled squeezing my hand in reassurance.
"Home sweet home" I smiled as Liam wrapped his arm around my shoulder.
I have everything I need right here sitting this table.
