Ch 12

Caitlin pov
As expected, Liam and I woke up early the following day, the geeky scientists in us, anxious to get to work and test our theory. Soon enough we arrived at S.TA.R Labs and I felt a sad wave of nostalgia as we walked through the corridor and into the elevator. An elevator I was so used to take everyday, several times with either Cisco or Barry by my side with coffees from Jitters.

"I can't believe I am in the infamous S.T.A.R Labs" Liam smiled once we walked out of the elevator and down the hall.

" I didn't know we were famous" Cisco perked from behind us with Iris and Barry hot on his tail.

"We should've brought signed autographs" Barry added humorously.

"Save the ink boys, we all know I'm the star of this show" Iris joked flipping her hair dramatically.

"All Hail Queen Iris" Cisco laughed as he embraced me in a brief hug while bro hugging Liam with morning greetings.

"Good morning guys. We didn't know you guys would be coming so soon. Otherwise, I would've brought more coffees" Iris mentioned pointing towards the coffee holder in her hand.

"Oh don't worry we had coffee on our way here" I smiled genuinely while Liam nodded in agreement.

"Oh great!" Iris smiled.

"Why are you guys here so early? I thought you said you had to run some errands" Barry asked curiously.

"We decided to push them back. Liam and I were theorizing yesterday and we came up with a plausible hypothesis" I informed the team.

"oh yay! I like theories!" Cisco exclaimed excitedly.

"Basically the reason why Barry and Caitlin had the odd interaction is because Frost has merged with Caitlin so now she has access to her cold powers without needing Frost as her outlet" Liam explains briefly.

"You think that's possible?" Barry asked looking at me for some sort of answer.

"I can't give you a definite answer. I have to run some blood work first" I replied

"Well your station is exactly how you left it. Not a single item out of place. I would know. I keep the dust out" Cisco smiled softy at me and I smile sadly at him. I know me leaving was hard on him and I can't help but feel guilty thinking about how painful it must of been for him to not see me everyday.

"Thank you Cisco" I smiled instinctively reaching for Liam's hand for some comfort. Liam glanced at me softly squeezing my hand reassuringly wordlessly telling me it was okay.

"Let's go yeah?" Iris encouraged walking ahead while Barry tore his focus away from Liam and I.

"yeah let's go" Barry agreed uncomfortably while we all followed after him.

"You were not kidding" I whispered in shock noticing everything exactly the way I left it.

"I told you. I wanted everything to be exactly the same when you decided to come back" Cisco said with a hint of sadness.

"Cisco" I said softly glancing at him while he shifted his gaze away from me.

"I know you're not coming back but its nice to work with my favorite scientist once again for old times sake" He smiled sadly while clearing his throat.

"Anyways I will leave you two scientists to work your geeky magic" Cisco quickly dismissed himself to avoid a very uncomfortable by necessary conversation.

I will have to talk to him later.

"Shall we get to work Dr. Snow" Liam grinned excitedly.
