Ch 16

Caitlin pov
I woke the next morning to harsh whispers coming from the kitchen area.

"Barry?" I called out noticing him nowhere in sight.

"Sorry Cait. I didn't mean to wake you. I'm making pancakes and its taking a lot longer now that I don't have my powers" He complained softly wiping his hands on a kitchen cloth.

"Welcome to my world" I chuckled looking at his frantic state in the kitchen.

"and if you're already complaining don't let the thought of cleaning everything up drive you over the edge" I laughed enjoying his current state.

"Alright laugh all you want but I'm having a hard time without my powers" He said in all seriousness.

"Okay okay I'm done mocking you. Don't worry too much Barry. I'm sure our genius son will figure something out and you'll get your powers back soon enough" I smiled softly and he nodded in agreement.

"Ouch mother. Do you have no faith in me? I promise I am bright" Dawn claimed walking into the loft with Ron right behind her.

"I didn't mean it like that Dawn" I replied looking at her apologetically.

"I know mom. I was just kidding" She laughed humorously rubbing my back comfortingly.

"Anyways since we're talking about Dad's powers. I do have a temporary solution. I have a serum that will give you your powers back temporary by overriding your metagenes. I haven't been able to find permanent serum; I just started working on it last week" Ron rambled on showing us the serum in a syringe.

"We get it Ron, you're perfect. Can you just give dad the serum already?" She commented in annoyance.

"Uh-right-yeah okay" Ron stuttered eyeing her briefly. Barry and I share a discreet mutual concerned glance before shifting our gaze back to Ron. 

"Here" Ron handed me the serum.

"You don' want to do it?" I asked curiously.

"I'll let you do the honors" He smiled softly.

"Alright. If you say so..."  I smiled grabbing the serum from him.

"Sit" I instructed Barry while he obeyed and pull out a chair neatly lined up in the kitchen table setting.

"I know drill Dr. Snow" Barry mocked softly giving me a grin.

"I'm assuming it should be applied at the neck pressure point" I asked Ron not wanting to assume incorrectly.

"You're right. Serum acts faster" Ron nodded.

"Ready to get your speed back Flash?" I asked with a smile. He laughed and nodded. I quickly injected the serum and we waited a few minutes for it to take effect.

"You should have your powers back for a couple of days before you need another doze" Ron commented.

"Great. Thank you Ron" Barry smiled patting his back.

"No problem dad" He smiled and I widen my eyes slightly in response.

It is so odd hearing those words coming out of his mouth. I've spent so much more time knowing Dawn that I've gotten used to her calling us her parents but hearing Ron call Barry 'dad' made everything seem finalized. It remedied me of the future I thought I had wiped from reality.

My thought were interrupted by Barry sudden moves. Before I could even finish swiftly turning around to face him; he already had a full breakfast feast in front of us with the whole entire kitchen cleaned. Barry smirked at me proudly

"Want breakfast?" He asked grinning at me.

"Oh shut up Barry" I laughed shaking my head. Ron and Dawn glanced at each other in confusion.

"Did we miss something earlier?" Dawn laughed sitting down and grabbing a plate for herself.

"Just your mother being jealous of my abilities" Barry said pridefully.

"No, just your father being incompetent without his powers and whining like a baby for his lack of abilities" I smiled and Barry gasped.

"I am not a whinny baby" Barry tried to argue back.

"You are" all three of us replied simultaneously.

"Wow. Thanks for having my back guys" Barry shook his head at his children.

"I thought you knew who the boss is around here Dad. Whatever mom says goes." Ron laughed.

"I thought this was a democracy" Barry pouted.

"No. It is a mom-cracy" Dawn corrected and we all laughed.

After we all finished breakfast we all decided a chat was way overdue.

"So why exactly are we here?" I asked the dreaded question once we were all comfortingly sat the couch.

"Kaden Stallard" Ron said briefly.

"What?" Barry spoke first utterly confused and I was right there with him.

"He's the reason you're here" Ron clarified.

"You said St-Stallard?" I questioned with my eyebrows raised.

"He wants to kill you" Dawn added.

"Who?" Barry and I asked confused.

"You Mom. He wants to kill you" Both Ron and Dawn replied and I flinched.

"Why?" I asked breathlessly.

"We don't know" they whispered.

"Liam?" I asked my heart beating ten miles an hour.

"Kaden is Liam Stallard's son and our half brother" Dawn replied softly. My whole world seemed to stop. Everything stopped.

Half-brother?
                  My son.
Annnnnnnnd what happens now?
What did you guys think? Caitlin and Liam have a son! Wow! Writing this was so nerve-racking because I didn't know if I wanted to direct the book down that path but I'm really happy with my decision. I think it is also the best compromise; I definitely did not want to kill Liam but I also had the challenge of trying to get Snowbarry together( and I didn't know how to do it without it seeming forced or random); so this way you get the best of both worlds (I think 🤫).
