Capturing The Big Black Wolf

After finding a note by someone named Mei Yin, I decided to write these notes for myself, a week ago I was stranded in a new place, a new world without explanation but found a home with some nice people but there is obviously so much more out there to discover. Mei Yin spoke of beast, there are many different beast here. Like the big toothed cats called sabers, the giant wolves named dire wolves, the large vultures called Argentavis, the woolly mammoths and much more. How could she tame such ferocious creatures? even the docile ones were not to be messed with.

I went over what creature would be better to try to tame, mammoths stayed in herds and it would be hard to lead one away since they can communicate by far. The argents could fly, I was no match in thick snow, the sabers were quick and direwolves in packs of at least 4. I would have to go through this again.

I got it! After some time of thinking, I remembered the injured wolf from before, he was alone and already injured, this would be too easy, of course I will take Jaecer with me just in case. After discussing it with him, he didn't deny me of it since it didn't seem that much of a threat to go out.

We went on foot to be better at staying hidden and searched the area we last saw him. After a while, Jaecer pointed out fresh pawprints that matched the giant wolves. It followed to the old monument so we went there and guess who we saw poking his head out just to snarl at us, the big black dire wolf. Me and Jaecer would need to come up with a plan, hitting him with an arrow would be sure to kill him, we need to contain him first.

We did it, we got the wolf secured in an old barn that was previously used for Karakul before it was destroyed by sabers. We managed to trap him because Jaecer came up with an idea to lure him out with food then bola him. Jaecer shot an unsuspecting penguin and tossed it next to the monument, we waited.

Jaecer held the bola up, ready to take the wolf whenever he came out. It was a while but the wolf finally trusted his surroundings enough to come out and snatch the penguin before trying to limp back into the building but Jaecer threw the bolas and struck him, the poor thing let out a cry of pain as he collapsed to the ground. Jaecer quickly tied the struggling wolf up with thicker ropes and muzzled him. We retrieved the dog mounts and and dragged the wolf carefully to the old barn and released him there before feeding and watering him.
