Getting to Know The Family

I went with Zulu again to his family, keeping my distance. I was able to learn more about them. Icilyn was quiet and very vigilant. She noticed me pretty quickly and started snarling but Zulu came to my defense. He walked up to me and laid down besides me. Icilyn wasn't too happy and kept her pups close to her. I wasn't expecting her to welcome me with open arms, even mammoths became hostile with offspring. I'll respectfully keep my distant, see where it goes.
-
During the third night with them, Wither came up to me while I was petting Zulu. He was a curious pup and started chewing on my shoes instantly. I reached my hand out to touch him but was met with his snarling mother instead so I took my hand away and allowed him to keep nibbling at and sniffing me.
-
Its the fourth night with the family of Zulu and all of the pups have become more comfortable with me. They are playing in my satchel as I write this. I'm gonna have to ask Darwin to repair it for me. Icilyn has become more comfortable with me as well. She would lay by Zulu when he would lay by me, I touched the tip of her tail but she flicked it away instantly. Oh well.

We've been having lots of heavy storms. The pups have been tightly huddled against their mama trying to keep warm. Zulu has been taking in more food for them. I want to create something for them, a shelter before the next storm.
-
I brought a few tribesmen with me to help gather the supplies, I should be helping them instead of writing in this journal but I'll get to that in just a moment. We have a few greenland dogs with us so they can haul the heavy loads of wood, thatch and fibers.

I have Whiplash picking up the load after they freed the canines from it. It seemed that it was too heavy for him, so I asked Eric to borrow the female argys and he agreed without hesitation. I attached the ropes to the two bird's talons before whistling Whiplash to follow me. I thought it would be better and safer to keep the dogs and extra people away from Zulu's wild pack and just use the birds in the sky instead.

Once the cargo was placed into the pack's nestling space, I began working on the build, unfortunately I had to do it on my own with a little help from the animals, because of the time it took to gather the supplies, I had barely anytime to build a space big enough for all of them. Only the puppies were able to fit. I added a few wall torches to keep them extra cozy.

I'll keep working on the shelter but for now Icilyn will just have to sleep outside. I wanted Zulu to come sleep with me but he didn't want to leave Icilyn out during the storm, understandably.
