Another Fallen Soldier

While exploring with Garvas, we heard the most frightening roar come from the forest. It made our sled dogs become agitated and Zulu was snarling at the forest while backing away. When I looked over to Garvas, he drew his bow and pointed it at the forest. I didn't know if he saw what created the roar or if he was just doing it to do it. I saw that he was indeed making a motion to fire it, before I could stop him, he already fired the arrow and a creature let out a painful moan before we heard it's body drop. I was super surprised by that shot while Garvas was boasting and jumping around happily bathing in sweet victory.

He got off his sled and walked the dog to the creature he shot, when I got off my sled, Zulu grabbed me by the hair and stopped me from following Garvas, it was clear he didn't feel right about this and I listened to him. I watched Garvas from afar, it looked like he was trying to harvest the creature and get a trophy from it.

It was a large creature with horns on it's head and tiny arms. Zulu started becoming more agitated and that's when I tried calling Garvas away but he kept saying how he'll be done soon. Well, before he could finish, another creature, a bigger creature showed up behind him. It's feet made the ground shake. It let out a hissy snarl and when Garvas looked over to it, it wasted no time to clamp its jaws onto him, killing him almost instantly.

I remember being frozen into shock watching it, so was Zulu from what I could see from the corner of my eye. When two other horned beast emerged from the forest to feast on the dogs, that's when Zulu pulled on my hair to get my attention. He pushed his head between my legs and lifted me up onto his back before taking off running. I just clutched onto his fur holding on the best I could as he made a run for it.

At first it seemed he was going to the village but skid to a stop before running into the forest instead, almost as if he didn't want to put the tribe in danger. The large creatures were behind us, almost as fast as Zulu, when we went into the forest, they began to slow down a bit and started getting stuck on the branches, pretty sure one of them smashed into a tree.

After we felt like we lost them, Zulu returned me to the village. Diltion was the first to greet us, I guess he could instantly see that something was wrong and got me off of Zulu's back before taking me home.

Zulu stayed close to me, laying by my bed supportively. Once in a while he would go check on his family before returning to me.

Just like when Eita died, Garvas had a statute made of him. Even though he wasn't a great warrior, he was beloved, his spirit and bravery brought the tribe so much joy. He was a devastating lost to everyone.

Elias was so hurt by Garva's death that he told the tribesmen to avenge him by bringing the creature's body back. I was gonna sit this one out, I don't like the thought of revenge killings, especially towards a creature who knew no better, neither did I feel up to it. All I wanted to do was cuddle with Zulu.
