As Nebula and Bruce adjust the suit for Mary now that she's taking over the test run, Bruce also begins to go over the things she needs to be aware of now that she's the one testing everything. Steve was notified by Clint and the brother stood nervously, anxiously, and silently as he watched his sister become the guinea pig for the team.
He wasn't happy with her choice to do it, but there was no stopping Mary. He knew that about his sister, as did everyone else. Mary was a driving force to be reckoned with when she put her mind to something. But what she was going to see would be a mystery until she came back. It was up to Mary to choose when and where to go back to. Would she go back to see Bucky? To see Becca? Or to see someone completely different.
"Now, Mary, you're going to feel a little discombobulated from the chronoshift. Don't worry about it, okay?" Bruce explains to Mary and she looks up at her green friend, nodding.
"Okay." She whispers softly, still trying to figure out where she's going to travel to.
"Wait a second. Let me ask you something." Rhodey mutters from his corner beside Scott in the room. Steve was still apprehensive about it all so he simply watched. "If we can do this, you know... go back in time, why don't we just find baby Thanos? You know... and..." Rhodey trails off, he maneuvers his hands as if he's tying a rope and then tightens the invisible rope.
Mary's eyes widen in shock and Bruce speaks up, "First of all, that's horrible." He states.
Rhodey rolls his eyes, "It's Thanos."
"And secondly, time doesn't work that way." Bruce points out and Mary looks over at her friend, "Changing the past doesn't change the future."
"Look, we go back, get the stones before Thanos gets them, Thanos doesn't have the stones. Problem solved." Scott states and Rhodey motions with his hand over to Scott, proving his point.
Mary chuckles softly at the men around her, glancing over at Nebula as speaks up. "That's not how it works."
"Well, that's what we were told." Mary states with a small smile at the visible frustration Bruce is having with their assumptions about time travel.
"Wait, but who? Who told you that?" Bruce asks them.
"Star Trek, Terminator, Timecop, Time After Time-" Rhodey lists.
"Quantum Leap." Scott interjects.
"Wrinkle in Time, Somewhere in Time." Rhodey continues.
"Hot Tub Time Machine." Scott adds again.
"Hot Tub Time Machine. Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. Basically every movie that deals with time travel." Rhodey finishes.
"Die Hard." Scott adds but then shakes his head, "No, that's not one."
"All three Back to the Futures." Mary adds and Scott points to her with wide eyes, proving their point more.
