"T'Challa, what's happened?" Mary asks as they're transported to the palace in the Golden City. Mary was shaking slightly and Bucky knew she wasn't ready to let go of the life they had built. Their freedom. Jamie was concerned for his mother and father. He clung to his mother's arm as he sat on her lap. He knew where he would be during this fight. But he wasn't ready to part with his parents and godfather yet.
"Your brother contacted me saying something, someone was coming for Vision." The king begins to explain, "They need Shuri to try and remove the Mind Stone from his forehead."
Mary's hazel eyes widened in shock, "Remove it? I was there when Vision was created. I could help." She says and Bucky tightens his hold around his wife's shoulders. He knew this was who she was. Always wanting to help others, it was her core nature.
"It's possible, i'm sure Shuri would appreciate the help." T'Challa states as they reach the palace. Jamie looked out the window and smiled when he saw Ramonda but he also knew that he was going to stay with Ramonda until the battle was over.
"Not yet, Sunshine. You're staying with Baba and I until the very end." Mary promises her son as they exit the transport. She wasn't ready to let him go just yet, neither was Bucky. He had been silent since his initial question, he was still trying to wrap his head around the fact that aliens were real, that they were going to fight them.
Four hours later Mary felt a ping on her Kimoyo beads that an aircraft had entered the barrier protecting Wakanda. She and Bucky both had changed into battle gear. Shuri had made a suit for Mary that included her jet boots and repulsors. It reminded the mother of a Shield agent's suit, or Natasha's in all honesty. But the lining was purple instead of blue like Nat's suit. The suit was equipped with Vibranium weapons in the belt pockets that Shuri made as well. Medical supplies were also included so that if Mary needed to, she could become her former self on the battlefield and aid those that were injured.
She was terrified of Thanos and his army coming, being brought up to speed on what was happening only made Mary want to run and hide. She had fought Red Skull, Hydra, Ultron, Klaue and other villains but Thanos? His threat had been looming over Tony since 2012. She wanted to check in with her son but he was out of reach and she didn't know why. It worried her that he too had also been caught up in what Thanos was doing.
Bucky was getting his weapons figured out and Mary was beside T'Challa and Okoye as they went to greet the team that was landing the aircraft as they spoke. Jamie happily stood beside his Baba and watched in awe as the young son took in a side of his father he didn't see often.
"When you said we were going to open Wakanda to the rest of the world this is not what i meant." Okoye states coldly, causing Mary and T'Challa both to glance at each other and chuckle.
"And what did you imagine?" T'Challa teases.
"The Olympics. Maybe even a Starbucks." Okoye answers as the three stop and the Dora Milaje and the King's Guard stop behind them.
