Chapter 48

Mabibigat ang mga hakbang ko pauwi sa bahay. I talked to Missy a while ago, and I felt sorry for her. Pakiramdam ko it was partly my fault why her life was a mess. Itinuloy din niya pala ang plano niyang pagpikot kay Zeck at ngayon ay ang laki ng gulo.

Missy wants to make things right, but her brother wouldn't listen to her. 

"Ate, si Shin?" tanong ko kay ate Lottie pagpasok ko ng bahay. Nakita ko na sa garahe ang sasakyan ni Shin kaya alam ko na nakauwi na siya.

"Nasa itaas. Mukhang pagod. Hindi pa nagdi-dinner iyon hinihintay ka. Ipaghahanda ko na kayo."

I nodded. "Sige, ate. Salamat. Puntahan ko muna siya."

Pagpasok ko sa kwarto namin ay naabutan ko si Shin na nakaupo sa kama at nagpupunas ng basang buhok. Nag-angat siya ng tingin sa akin.

Tipid ko siyang nginitian. "Shower lang ako then dinner na tayo."

Bahagyang kumunot ang noo niya. "Are you okay?"

Matamlay akong tumango. Pumasok na ako sa bathroom at nag-shower. I wore a pair of pj afterwards. Sabay na kaming bumaba ni Shin at nag-dinner kasabay si ate Lottie. Wala akong gana kaya konti lang ang nakain ko.

I glanced at Shin who's watching a medical drama, and I sighed. Napabaling siya sa akin. "What's the matter?"

I bit my lower and contemplated whether I should tell him or not. After our first epic fail plan, I had no choice but to avoid Shin for several days since he wouldn't stop trying to squeeze out some answers from me. 

However, it seems it's time I come clean to him. Walang kibong yumakap ako sa kanya. "Hon-hon, may sasabihin ako pero promise mo muna na hindi ka magagalit sa akin."

Bahagya niya akong inilayo at tiningnan sa mga mata. "What is it?"

Lumabi ako at umayos ng upo. "Kase.." I breathed out harshly then started to tell him everything. I didn't leave out anything. 

"What were you thinking!" 

Napapikit ako sa pagtaas ng boses niya. "Hindi ko naman alam na papatulan niya yung biro ko eh," I mumbled. "Saka naawa lang naman kase ako kay Missy. Pinagdaanan ko din yon kaya gusto ko siyang tulungan."

"Yes, you should really feel sorry for your friend because her life is about to be ruined, thanks to your brilliant idea!" he said sarcastically.

I groaned and hugged my pillow tightly. "Nagi-guilty na nga ako eh! Awang-awa na ako kay Missy. Kasalanan ko talaga iyon! Minsan talaga hindi ako nag-iisip bago magsalita! Pahamak talaga itong bibig ko!" Naiinis na tinampal ko ang sariling bibig. "What should I do, hon-hon? Hindi ko pwdeng pabayaan si Missy. Ako yung nagpahamak sa kanya. It's all my fault!"

Ilang sandaling tinitigan niya ako. Sa huli ay napahinga na lang siya ng malalim. "The idea may have come from you, but Missy is old enough to know what is right from wrong. She was too desperate that she'd do anything. Thus, whether you made a suggestion or not, she'd still come up with something just to get Zeck. So stop blaming yourself."

"Should I talk to Zeck? Maybe I could do something to-"

He hissed. "Don't make the situation worse than it already is, Tamara. Stop getting yourself involved in situations where you're not supposed to be!" Annoyance is written all over his face. 

Mabilis akong yumakap sa kanya. "Huwag ka ng mainis. Sorry na. I'm just really worried about Missy, you know? Ano ba ang pwede kong gawin para sa kanya?"
