Chapter 55

Chapter 55: "It's terrifying, isn't it?" she whispered. "That even love isn't always enough."

"I'm pregnant, guys!"

Natigilan ako sa anunsiyo nina Aya at Duke. The others went to the couple and congratulated them. I reached for my juice and took a sip. Funny, it tasted bitter. Huminga ako ng malalim at tumayo para lumapit sa dalawa. 

"Tam! Preggy na talaga ako!" she said happily.

I smiled and hugged both of them. "Congrats."

I really do feel happy for them, but at the same time, I felt so bad for myself. Nakakatawa. Bagong kasal lang sila pero nabuntis agad si Aya. While Shin and I, on the other hand, have been married for years and still don't have one. 

"Ano, Tam. Shin, habol-habol din kapag may time!" biro ni Duke.

Nanlalamig na sinulyapan ko si Shin. Ngumisi lang siya sa biro ni Duke. I was relieved when Aya pulled us, girls, in the living room. While the men, stayed in the garden to drink. 

"I can't believe that you and Cherry are having a baby na," said Aya. "Kailan kaya ako?"

"Ang tanong dapat ay kung kailan magpo-propose sa'yo si David. Hala. Baka tubuan ka ng ugat sa kahihintay!" biro ni Aya.

"If he doesn't propose to me this year, goodbye na talaga sa kanya!" 

"Kayo ni Shin, Tam? Wala pa ba kayong plano na magka-baby?" Cherry asked. Medyo malaki na ang umbok ng tiyan niya.

I opened my mouth, but then, I didn't know know how to answer that. Kailan? Hindi ko nga alam kung magkakaroon ba kami. Bumakas ang pagtataka sa mukha nila ng hindi ako sumagot. Ngumisi na lang ako at nagkibit balikat.

Ally slung her around my shoulders. "When it's time, it will come," she said then changed the topic.

Nadatnan namin nagtatawanan ng malakas ang mga lalaki at mukhang nagpapalitan ng mga green jokes. It was pretty late when we decided to call it a night. As soon as we arrived home, I got out of the car fast without looking back. Dumiretso ako sa shower at naligo. I just stood under the shower, trying to wash away the chaos in my head. 

Paglabas ko ay nasa kama na si Shin at nagbabasa. Basa na rin ang mukha niya at mukhang nakapag-shower na sa ibang banyo. Pumasok ako sa walk in closet at nagbihis. Paglabas ko ay nakahiga na si Shin at ang lamp na lang sa bedside table niya ang ilaw na nakabukas. Sa halip na humiga na ay tinungo ko ang pinto.

"Where are you going? Aren't you sleeping yet?" he asked.

I shook my head. "Hindi pa ako inaantok. Manonood na lang muna ako sa entertainment room."

"But it's late." Hindi ako kumibo at binuksan ang pinto. He got up. "Let's watch one movie, then let's sleep."

Kumunot ang noo ko at bumaling sa kanya. "I can watch on my own. Matulog ka na. Huwag mo na akong hintayin," I said then added sarcastically, "That's what you've been doing these past few nights anyway."

His brows pulled together and stood up. "What's with you?" mahinahong tanong niya pero kita ko sa mukha niya na malapit na siyang mainis sa akin.

"Pagod lang. Sorry." I looked away. "Sige na. Matulog ka na."

Mabilis na akong lumabas at isinara ang pinto. Napasandig ako sa pader at napabuga ng hangin. Hindi ko sinasadyang maging sarcastic sa kanya. Pero sa sobrang negatibo ng nararamdaman ko ay sa kanya ko naibuhos.

I decided to continue the kdrama that I've been watching. I like it a lot but today, I can't seem to enjoy it. Ang daming gumugulo sa utak ko. Hindi na ako umalis sa entertainment room kahit inaantok ako hanggang doon na ako nakatulog. When I woke up the next morning though, I was in our bed. Pero wala na si Shin sa tabi ko. Inabot ko ang unan niya at niyakap.
