Thomas ran through the collapsing building, trying to find Alex. This was a horrible idea. He knew they didn't have enough people on the team. He should've waited.
Alex and John were sent into that building to capture the infamous John Adams. Wanted for: multiple bombings, sexual assault and harassment allegations, murder, arson... the list really goes on and on. They never expected him to be this prepared. They were supposed to have the upper hand. The building had exploded once and Thomas wouldn't be surprised if it were to happen again. John had gotten out in time, but Alex was nowhere to be found. Right now, the traitor on their team didn't matter, he needed to find his friend.
"Alex!" Thomas called out. "Alex, c'mon please, please, please."
He ran around for about 10 minutes before he found a trail of blood and followed it. The trail led Thomas to a large, cracked beam with a small man leaning on it. Alex. It was clear his consciousness was waning and there was barely any life in his eyes.
"T-Thomas," Alex sputtered, coughing out blood. His face was covered in dirt and ashes. There was a hole at the bottom of Alex's stomach, the bleeding obviously way too severe for anyone to survive.
Thomas instantly rushed to his aid, carrying him bridal style. "Hey, you're going to be okay, I promise. Just stay awake. C'mon Alex..."
Alex, just regaining consciousness, started sobbing. With every step Thomas took he just seemed to be in more and more pain. "It hurts."
"I know, I know. I'm so sorry this was my fault."
Alex kept his hand on the wound. Just stop the bleeding. "No, no, I-" he cut himself off with a sharp gasp of pain.
Thomas swallowed, not knowing what to do. "We-we're almost out. Don't worry. I've got you." He held the smaller man closer to his chest. Tears streamed down his face. He couldn't lose Alex. They were just becoming friends.
After a while, Alex had stopped responding and Thomas had only realized that when the paramedics came up to the two.
"Alex, Alex." Thomas shook his body. No response. "Al-"
John ripped him from Alex's side and pulled him into a hug. "Thomas, he's gone..."
It should've been him.
It was Thomas' call to make, his wrong call and now there was a traitor and a dead man.
