A/N: Prompt is at the top ^

John was an angel. He wanted to help everyone. His smiles and laughs lit up the room. Someone was sad? He would sit with them until they felt even just a little bit better. Making other people happy just made him happy.

He knew something was off the second he stepped out of the animal shelter he volunteered at. His stomach churned as he drove back home. It was when he was waiting at a stoplight he saw it.

It probably would've been best to just drive away and stay out of trouble, but that wasn't John. So when he saw someone getting robbed and beat up to a pulp by a local gang, he had to do something.

John pulled his car over to the side of the road. He started walking towards the gang, not really thinking this through. He wasn't really muscular or athletic in general. He was a gay theatre kid! Going to the gym wasn't really on his schedule.

"Hey! Stop!" He yelled to them.

They turned their heads.

"What do you want?" One of them spat.

"Stop hurting him! At the very least take the money and leave!" John pleaded.

"You telling us how to do our jobs?" Another one asked.

"N-No."

One of them grabbed John by the collar and shoved him to the wall. John kicked his legs trying to get away. By now, they had let go of the other man and he had escaped.

The man held John up by his throat. John was already feeling light headed, the lack of oxygen messing with him.

"Now listen here you little shit-" the man cut himself off when he realized the other guy had escaped. He didn't even finish his sentence. He was so mad and just started pounding his fist into John. The other guys started joining in, kicking and punching.

Soon enough, they got bored and pulled out a gun. They shot him in the stomach and just left. John knew this was his end, he was going to die. He was okay with it because you know what, he had a good life. He may have only been 17, but he got to make other people happy. He would die happy. But there was still one more thing he had to do.

He reached for his phone in his pocket that had thankfully not been destroyed. He dialed his boyfriend's number.

"Hello?"

John smiled, tears starting to form in his eyes. "Hi, Alex."

"Hey, baby, how ya doing?"

"Great, I'm doing great."

He could practically hear Alex's frown. "What's wrong?"

"No, nothing's wrong, I just wanted to hear your voice."

"Oh, okay. I missed you."

John tasted the salty tears as he laughed. "Baby, I've only been gone for 2 hours."

"Well, yeah, John, but 2 hours too many."

"You're such a dork." John's head was spinning from blood loss. His breathing started to hitch.

Alex giggled. "But I'm your dork!"

"Yeah." John paused, enjoying this moment knowing it would have to end soon. "Well, I gotta go."

"Aw, okay. See you soon!"

"I love you, Alexander Hamilton."

"I love you, John Laurens."

Alex hung up, and John sighed. He could feel himself slipping out of consciousness.

"I'll see you on the other side," he whispered.

With a final breath, his eyes shut.
