"What-now?" I ask.
"Of course. I need to sort this out" Jin says, full of determination.Damn...I was actually hoping this would take longer. It hasn't even been a day.
"Do you remember there's a party going on?" I ask, trying to keep up with his long strides.
"That's why I need to sort this out now. I can't run away from my own home" Jin says."To be fair, you ran away from your stepmother" I correct him.
"That's even worse. I shouldn't run away from family. I'm sure I can have a proper conversation with her" Jin says, sounding hopeful."Right" I say.
I'm not as hopeful.
If this is the Apple's story then I already know where this is about to go.
...or maybe the story should play out. He'll fall into a deep sleep and a kiss will wake him up. I could be the one to steal a kiss and find his real princess for him when I'm back to my normal form to wake him up.
We can help each other out.
"I really appreciate all your help. I will definitely repay your kindness" Jin says with a smile as he looks down on me.
"No need to give that speech now. Talk to your Stepmother first" I say.
"You are absolutely right" Jin says with an extra skip in his step."Where does this lead anyway?" I ask, referring to the path we are walking.
"To the chess room" Jin answers.Of course-the chess room.
"And here we are" he says as he puts a hand on the handle but hesitates to open.
"...Jin?" I ask once he doesn't open the door.He slowly opens the door and I remain behind him, trying not to completely show my ugly face.
The setting was as weird as it sounded. My eyes traveled from the human chess pieces wearing their respective hats to the Queen sitting on a magnificent throne with a fitting silk dress.
Beautiful lady-I can tell you that. Now I know on which side of the family Jin got his looks-oh wait. That's he's stepmother.
Then his dad must have extremely high standards in woman. I remember the previous Queen was beyond beautiful inside and out.
"Stelmother" Jin announces our arrival. All eyes turn to us.
The Queen looks around uncomfortably on what to do. She finally figured out her game plan and starts her act.
"Seokjin. How I missed you" the Queen says as she stands up with arms wide open. She gives a killer smile. I can only glare at the lady.
I'm not buying her act.
Jin smiles brightly and before I could tug on his pants to try and signal him to not believe her, he runs to her to give her a hug.
The Queen looks uncomfortable at his touch.
She taps his shoulder with a finger and he happily lets go.
"I have so much to tell you but first, can you get these shoes off?" Jin asks with a sheepish smile as he looks to his shoes.
The Queen has a greedy look on her face as she stares at the shoes.
"Everyone out" she orders and everyone gratefully leaves, not before getting a few strange looks on what I was doing there.
"Oh wait wait. There's someone I would like you to meet" Jin says as he turns to me. He rushes to me and basically shoves me to the front of the throne.
