Winter...
I couldn't believe it. After all this time she was actually standing here, right in front of me. She was real. Finally standing here in front of me after all these months and tortures that I have been through. I couldn't believe it.
The fact that she looked far worse than I did was slightly alarming. Her skin deadly pale, dark circles underlining her usually bright eyes which were now dull. Her hair was a mess and she looked overall sick. Strangely similar to one of the things I saw in my simulations.
Pushing the thought towards the back of my head, I smiled at her. I brought her into a hug. After all this time it felt like home. Warm, loving, and welcoming. That's what I missed when we were separated.
But the warmness was becoming quite weird after a while. Jeez, this woman was burning up. She looked quite out of breath when she pulled away from me but still tried to keep a small, tired smile on her face to not get me suspicious. But I knew better.
"Summer...are you..." A blaring of an alarm cut me off. The room started flashing with a vibrant orange vibrant signal. What the hell is happening?
"Oh no, not good. That's the fire alarm." Eddie informed us, looking around in search for the signs of the fire threat being near us.
"Aw, too bad, I wanted to burn the place down personally." Summer muttered before her body shook as she started coughing violently. Eddie and I exchanged glances. This doesn't look good. Summer pulled off the jacket she had on, probably feeling too hot in her own skin. That's when the angry dark veins were revealed to us. Poking through her ghost-like skin. My eyes widened when I saw it.
"Summer?" She looked up at me, sorrow and guilt written all over her face.
"Yeah...I'm sorry." She coughed again. "I must look terrible." She said weakly and I had the urge to slap her across the face. How can she be joking right now?
"That's not the worrying thing. You are infected Sum." Eddie said, informing her about her state in case she didn't know.
"Oh, believe me, I've noticed." I shook my head at how carefree my sister was about this. The pain was noticeable on her face. With every word she spoke. Her eyes were closing slightly as if she were tired and she was desperately trying to stay away.
"Girls, we need to get out of here, and we need to get you a cure, pronto," Eddie stressed about to run off in some random direction. But knowing my lovely Gladers I know that it is not the only Summer who is here. They must be already infiltrated in the building.
"What was the plan?" I asked her knowingly. She slowly reached for the walkie that she had in her pocket. My eyes caught on the familiar looking black gun that she had in her holster.
"Thomas! I got Winter. Where are you guys?" Summer asked into the transmitter. We waited for a few seconds until Thomas' voice cracked from the other side.
"We are trying to find Minho here." Thomas dismissed.
"What are you doing tell her that Janson knows about us!" And that was Newt.
"Shit," Summer muttered grabbing hold of the gun she had at her side. "Thomas, we'll meet you guys outside the building, the garage's going to be flooded with guards, Brenda needs to get out of there with the kids." Summer said into the walkie and turned to Eddie.
"I already don't like that look," Eddie muttered. His voice and expression being so similar to mine whenever Summer has a stupid or dangerous idea.
"Do you know where the garage is?" She asked smiling slightly at him. Eddie nodded already guessing where this was going. "I need you to go there, find a bus with a girl in it and tell her to drive off and to meet us on the backup meeting spot." Summer told him, loading the gun. The clicking sound of it somehow made me sick.
