Winter...

Rushing through the city, our main aim is to run those 12 blocks to get to the tunnels and out of here. Minho and Newt were holding Summer for who it was harder and harder to walk. She didn't seem to have any strength left in her.

The sudden shock came when an explosion echoed through the air. The sound waves from the blast being so strong they made us stumble on our feet almost falling on the ground. I turned my head to the side to see the place where used to be a giant stone wall, now in its place was a massive explosion. Fire rising in the air devilishly. I can almost hear the people screaming in firing and agony there.

"We're supposed to take down WICKED, not the whole damn city," Gally muttered, staring at the fire in the distance. We started walking again but I noticed Gally still standing there. Hypnotized by the fire.

"Gally, come on," I said urging him to move with us. He looked at me in surprise after he heard my name leave his mouth. I don't usually use it.

"You called me by my name?" He asked surprised, jogging a bit to catch up with me. I shrugged turning my head to face where we were walking.

"Don't get too used to it," I answered and started walking faster to walk next to Newt and Minho. Summer looked terrible. Her eyes were barely opened. A wheezing sound escaping her slightly parted lips. My eyes wandered to Newt who had a determined expression all over his face. He and Minho both struggled with keeping her upwards due to both of them being exhausted but they refused to let go.

Well, the fire and explosions resulted in a full blasted riot of common people attacking the WICKED workers. Would have been cool if it wouldn't be endangering our position here. We were hiding in the building but even that was on fire. Angry orange flames flaring around us.

Summer wasn't helping the situation much with her angry mutters that we should leave her behind. She feels like a burden. From her point of view where Newt and Minho have to basically carry her around, I am not surprised, but she needs to understand that leaving her here is not an option. Not now not ever.

I glance over at Gally who is standing by the door trying to figure out an escape root that would prevent us from getting caught in a crossfire. Leaning my back exhaustedly against the wall I breathed out a tired sigh. This was all so exhausting. Not only the running for our lives. But also the incredible pressure that came with it and the constant stress of always having to be on top of your senses in case someone decides to attack you.

"Should've left me behind a long time ago guys." Summer croaked her head falling back against the wall. I looked over at the girl that had nothing in common with my sister anymore. Her skin almost turning grey. Visible dark veins crawling up her neck. Her eyes were dull and her voice didn't sound like her anymore. She was losing herself. She was already half gone.

Newt sighed at her statement and stood up needing to take a few steps around to calm himself down. It is ruining him to see her like this. It is a well-known fact that he loves her with his whole life and the fact that he can't help her is literally killing him from the inside.

"Summer, calm down please," Minho said sternly, his voice barely above a whisper. His hand went to reach for hers but she snatched it away.

"No! Just leave me alone! Let me here to die and go without me." Summer screamed at him and that started the hushed fight between them. Leave to those two to fight in a situation like this. I noticed Newt pacing around anxiously. His fingers in his hair, threatening to pull them out.
