At the beginning of your relationship with Draco, you found out very quickly on your own that Draco isn't a very touchy person in public. It's not that he's embarrassed of you, or that he doesn't love you. He's shown time and time again how much he cares for you, he just doesn't display that type of affection in public.

Even before you and him starting dating exclusively, he wouldn't really touch you intimately unless he had to. Like a territorial thing, when Blaise or someone else in the slytherin house would stare too long. It's a last-resort. As for all your other girl friends, like Pansy, Daphne, Millicent, and plenty more, Draco is the same way towards them, just colder. So really, it's nothing personal.

Which you're glad about, really. You don't want to be receiving any sort of special treatment from Draco like that. You think you'd lose your mind if Draco had been 'distant' like this towards you, and kept the other girls closer. Talk about jealousy waiting to happen.

But there's no reason to be jealous on your part, not even of the girls that still dream over dating Draco. Because not only does Draco not do anything affectionate in public, he hasn't announced your relationship to anyone outside of your friend group. It's only the people you're really close with that knows.

So obviously Pansy Parkinson isn't going to be going after Draco, but when it comes to Daphne, Millicent and Tracey, it's a whole new story. They act like they're slick with their staring and talking about him, when most of the time it's Draco picking up on what they're saying and relaying it back to you.

If you didn't know any better, you'd say that Draco's trying to elicit a reaction from you. Really, he must be trying to be helpful. If you know that the girls are talking about him, and planning to talk to him certain ways, you'll know ahead of time and be able to control your emotions better.

Merlin, if only they knew how stupid they looked to him when they walk away. Always when they turn their backs, finally done with flirting, you and Draco are heading to your next class or some other place, already talking about how dumb they looked. Draco's normally the one to instigate the conversation, mocking their words and voices, and telling you that you're a lot smoother than that.

While Draco won't show affection through touch, he will with words and presents. It's not often that he'll defend you in front of other people, again because of your relationship being fairly private. But when he does, it's to defend your name and status, since everyone knows how important it is to Draco to be spoken of highly.

He knows that's not always the case, obviously. He can't control what everyone thinks of him, but he'll try his damned hardest to make sure that it's not the same way with you.

In the end, you know that if any of this bothers you, you could easily bring it up to Draco. He's always willing to listen, he's hardly ever in a bad mood when it comes to you. And a little secret that he told you a while back, is how much he loves how you're open with him. With other people, they tend to bottle and let it build until it's overwhelming. You like to address the problems as they come.
