NOTES; READER IS SLYTHERIN

After your conversation with Draco in the hallway after potions, you weren't left with many people to be friends with in the slytherin house. Automatically, Blaise, Crabbe and Goyle were knocked off the list, with Pansy barely hanging on by a thread. You've known them since first year, but Draco's closer to them by default somehow.

Even though Pansy was the one suggesting you break up with Draco the entire time, you've begun to see that there was an ulterior motive. It doesn't take a genius to know that Pansy has had a crush on him for a while. Now it's more obvious. You're out of the way, which means she can move right on in.

On one hand, you're sure that Pansy was suggesting it to be a good friend, because you do deserve better. With your own boyfriend–now exboyfriend–somehow managing to avoid you for weeks on end, it was clear you needed someone that would tell you what's wrong, instead of hiding like a coward.

A coward in the slytherin house? Might as well call Draco a hufflepuff.

But on the other hand, again, Pansy and her stupid ulterior motive. Draco knows that she likes him, you've brought it up to him plenty of times before. You're not really a jealous person, especially since Draco isn't one to make moves on people unless he's completely enamoured or his hand is forced–take what happened in the hallway as an example.

Pansy's only making a fool of herself, and it's mildly fun to watch. If Draco found her slightly irritating before, you can't imagine how annoyed he is now. She's not exactly subtle with her advances, as if she's even making any in the first place. In no time, Draco will make a joke of her. Just like he made a joke of you.

Talk about ouch, right? In front of so many different years, all sorts of different houses. An act of betrayal, a stab to your cold, dead heart. Instead of Draco saving it for later, for telling you it in private, he spilled your worst fear in front of the whole school to see. And even worse, you cried over it.

Needless to say, you're pretty embarrassed, and you haven't said a word to most people in your house since. The looks from them are enough for you. They just watched the high and mighty fall. Only, Draco's still standing, and you're scrambling to collect your belongings like a blind jester.

What is there to collect, anyway? No one likes you, thanks to your ego when you were dating Draco. You're almost friendless. All the other houses hate you. It's a horrible position to be in. And unless you find a way to change quickly, you're going to be like this for the rest of your school career.

It's bad, but you think it could be worse. You're not completely alone, you've got one person by your side; Theodore Nott. There's one important thing you've learned from him already. Which is that empires don't build overnight, it's a long process but it can be done.

Honestly, screw Draco for everything that he's done to you.

"I'm done crying over it, Theodore. I need new friends." you say, watching as he bites into a chocolate frog. He raises his eyebrows, taking his time with chewing it.

"You were likable before Draco came around, weren't you? Sounds easy to me." he says, "All you have to do is start being friendly again."

"I'm always friendly."
