For someone who hates everyone from Gryffindor, Draco seems to have quite the obsession about you. Honestly, what's the difference between you, and everyone else in the house? You display the same traits that they do, maybe a little more outspoken sometimes, but it's nothing unique.
It definitely has to be the way you carry yourself. While your friends—the insufferable bastards they are—walk with confidence, you walk without care. He didn't think that there would be a difference between those two things, because they sound quite the same, but it's there.
If you walk with confidence, you have something to be insecure about. You're worried about what others will think of you, and sometimes duck when things begin to get hazy. And he doesn't mean 'run away' when things get rough, he means that the confidence can fade and crack under pressure.
It's happened with Weasley plenty of times. He displays confidence when around friends, but the handful of times he's been without Potter or Granger, he's cracked. He's not as strong as he looks. He needs people to bake him up. While Draco on the other hand, is whole all by himself.
Much like you, which is also why you walk without care. You don't care what others think about you. You don't care what they say, or the things they do. It's like you have this permanent shield around you, everything that happens seems to bounce right off.
Which makes it a challenge to get under your skin, something that Draco is also familiar with. There's not a lot that can get you fired up and angry, at best, Draco's only gotten you annoyed. He remembers what you said exactly, actually; "Your constant harassment tells me you're infatuated with me, Malfoy. Is that true?"
It was hard to back out of that one, you might not have been looking up at him, with your face buried in your potions book. But it's not like he could just walk away. He's just lucky that your friends weren't around at the time, he would never hear the end of it from them. And really, the last thing he'd want is for the tables to be turned.
Draco isn't infatuated with you, and it's obviously not the case on your part, either. Your indifference is obvious, you could care less what happened to him. In fact, most days you barely even acknowledged his existence, unless it was a dire need to.
But as of recently, he's beginning to take a step back on that thought, considering that you haven't shown up to class in days. There have been times in the past where you didn't show up to class, days that you slept in so long that you had no choice but not to go. Draco's used to that happening.
What he's not used to, is you disappearing for a whole week straight. No class, no Great Hall, no quidditch games. He's sure that you're wandering around the school somewhere, but all of his friends say that you haven't been in sight. No library, no courtyard, no Hogsmeade.
He knew that you didn't like him very much, there's a lot of people that don't like him. But is it really enough for you to start avoiding him? Draco can hardly recall the last time he talked to you, maybe the last time you were in potions? Well, that's obvious. It's also the day that Snape sat you two next to each other.
