In last chapter I explained some important stufffsss. I am not good at formal korean but there is something you should know!
The first thing you should learn in formal language is -요.
-요 is a particle typically placed at the end of a word- the word is typically at the end of the sentence. In other words, to make a sentence formal, add -요 in the end.
Example time!
We learnt 주다 = to give (verb)
If we remove the particle -다, what we have left behind is 주.
주 means give. But we never say 바나나 우유 주 nope-
We add -세요 to make it polite. 주+세요=주세요.
주세요 is used very frequently. If you watch korean dramas, you would have definitely heard it.
주세요 is a polite way to ask someone to give you something.
초코 우유 주세요 is a perfect sentence.
Let's make an order at starbucks.
아메리카노 주세요 = Americano please.Don't like coffee? Lets order grape juice.
포도 주스 주세요 = Grape juice please.New words we learnt today:
아메리카노: americano
포도: grapes
주스: Juice
