There are two counting systems used in Korea. One is called Sino Korean because its borrowed from chinese while the other is called Native Korean.
Boyh of these are used differently. I've been learning korean for months npw and trust me, I still suck at this. It never sits in my head. I'm always using the wrong system and my friends is always correcting me. Its frustrating but...I'll cross every obstacle that gets in my way.
The tip is, practice and repetance. Keep that in mind.
