A year. You had been stuck on this kriffing planet for a year. You spent most days thinking about where it all went wrong, replaying the ratchet day you arrived. When you stepped off that lady's ship, you had expected to leave within the week. You had hoped to help some people, earn a few credits, and move on with your life. But, of course, it didn't happen that way.

She had taken you to Nevarro. A lava planet in the middle of nowhere. The black sand was everywhere, and there didn't seem to be a smooth surface insight. Lava spewed from the earth in a sickly way. If hell was real, this was it. The weather was always hot and sticky. Occasionally there was some type of breeze, your only source of crisp air. Grotesque creatures ran the night and bounty hunters seemed to call it home.

You loved helping people, but these people didn't welcome it. Since the moment you arrived, everyone seemed to hate you. The only person who had shown you some sense of decency was the previous medic, Maison. He let you stay with him in the tiny hut he made outside of town. It wasn't a palace or anything, but it was better than sleeping on the streets.

Maison had introduced you to some people in town. He had lived here most of his life, so the people were drawn to him like magnets. It seemed he had no flaws, his compassion for people was electrifying. He was probably one of the sweetest men you had ever met in your life. His gray hair and beard symbolized the wisdom he had acquired over the years.

But, he died 3 months ago. Now you were truly stuck. He had given you his shitty speeder that barely ran. Unfortunately for you, it was your only form of transport. You never had the credits to buy your ship, so you ship-hiked where you could. It was better that way, always a new type of adventure. The only downside to it is the lack of people willing to let a stranger on their ship. That was the case here. Since the people seemed out to get you, no one would offer you passage off this hellhole.

You did your best to earn credits, trying to but your way off. Work here was rare, and since Maison didn't charge for his services, the people expected the same from you. No one seemed to have many credits to spare, so you doubted they would pay even if you asked. The fact you weren't the only one suffering brought you a sick sense of satisfaction.

"Y/N" You heard a voice call out from your small hut, breaking you from your thoughts. You sighed as you shifted your eyes away from the dark, rocky horizon and back to the small piece of cloth that acted as a door.

"Yes, Jalek? Is everything okay?" You replied quickly, "Please tell me you didn't tear your stitches." You said as turned to look at the tan, brown-haired man laying on the cot in your small 'home'.

"Huh? No no! The stitches are fine doc! When do you think I can head back to town?" He seemed to be trying to analyze your face, hoping for good news.

"If you can show me you can walk without a problem, you'll be good to go. You should be able to finish up your recovery back at your home." Your answer was true, well at least you hoped it was. You could only do so much for a blaster-shot that deep.

He swung his good leg over the edge of the cot and tried to gently pry his left to the ground. He let out a grunt as he made the final steps to standing up. As his leg hit the ground you rushed over to him to offer your shoulder as support. He gladly accepted and wrapped his arm around your shoulder.

"Oh, I almost forgot I made you these." You said as you pointed to two sticks on the ground tied up with vines on the opposite end of your hut. You hoped it would act as a crutch. "Hold onto the cot while I get it, okay?"

He let out a nod and his body shook without your support as you walked over to get the crutch for him. You scurried back to him and quickly placed the sticks under his arm. He was now standing on his own. You were relieved you no longer had to support the heavy man. You were sure the crutches were uncomfortable, but you knew he needed some type of support.

"Wow, thanks Y/N!" He said as he attempted a smile, one you gladly returned. "Do you think you can give me a ride back to town?"

"Do you think me to be so terrible of a doctor that you even have to ask?" You said while you gave him a playful frown, and he let out a small, painful laugh. You put on your dark brown cloak and wrapped the strap of your staff around your back. "Ready?"

"Yes ma'am." He began to walk with the crutches, keeping his left foot slightly above the ground behind him. He was heavily breathing and you stood behind him to keep him from falling.

You walked out to your speeder and sighed, praying it would startup.  You helped him into the passenger side and you hopped in the drivers. It seemed to let out a grunt before it finally started up. The ride to town was a good 15-minute ride away. You were thankful Maison had chosen to keep some distance between himself and the town, but you never got a chance to ask why.

You slowed down as the town came into view. You were about a thousand yards away and unfortunately, this was as far as you could go. You let out a sigh, "Jalek I have-"

He gently patted your hand that gripped the wheel, "I know. Thank you for your help. Please stay safe, okay?" He said gratefully. You looked at him and he gave you a toothy grin.

"I'm just sorry I can't take you all the way. You know how people are about me. Please be careful with your stitches, and don't hesitate to stop by." You said as you got out and went to his side of the speeder to help him out. You did your best to assist him as you handed him his crutches that were resting behind his seat.

"Hello?" A modified voice spoke. Your head snapped in the direction it came from. A shiny metal thing walked towards you. The sun shone brightly on your face, so you couldn't make out who it was. You turned to look at Jalek who just gave you a confused look.

"Hi?" You called back. The footsteps grew loud as they approached. You could see the shadow of the figure and something floating next to him became clear now. "Oh, a Mandalorian?" You said, your words came out as somewhat a question, but more of a statement. You'd had plenty of run-ins with them before, so you only expected the worse from this encounter.

You stood alert, preparing to reach for your staff if necessary. You heard a slight coo coming from the floating metal machine next to the man. It seemed like it was just a metal ball, so you were shocked to hear it speak. You tried your best to analyze it, but the sun reflected off its surface, so you chose not to blind yourself.

"Um, can we help you, sir?" Jalek spoke as he wobbled next to you on his crutches. You were on alert, the odds were against you if this man chose to attack.

"You,"  The Mandalorian said as he pointed right to you. He looked at the floating object on his side and back to you. The thing opened quickly and revealed a green creature within. "He lead me to you."
