After a couple hours of walking Dean started to feel very tired. He almost couldn’t even stand on his legs anymore. “come on Dean, it isn’t that far anymore, just hold on for a couple of minutes.” Cas said with a caring voice. “I can’t, I have to sleep.” Dean said while falling down from weariness. Cas could just catch him in time and laid him down on the soft, with leaves coated ground. “okay, then I’ll watch over you.” He said, while smiling at Dean. Dean was already asleep but when Cas talked he also got a smile on his face. Humans, Cas thought, they look so peaceful when they sleep. And when they are awake they just seem restless all the time. Cas looked around, making sure that nothing could approach them unseen. He would watch over Dean as long as it took for him to recover from his weariness. When Dean woke up it was an hour and a half later. “how long have I slept?” Dean asked. “long enough. We have to keep moving, or I’m afraid Sam won’t make it. They got up and Dean felt a little bit better. Cas was right. They had only walked half an hour and they got to an open spot surrounded by tall trees. But there was nothing. “I’m sure it was here, but why isn’t there anything?” Cas mumbled to himself. He stood up and almost walked onto the spot, but Dean stopped him. “if you walk out there now, they will see you, and they will kill you.” Dean warned him. Cas nodded and took a step back. Dean and Cas laid there exploring the field from safe distance for a couple of hours, but there was no sign of any living creature. It was getting dark and they still hadn’t found anything, when suddenly the ground seemed to move. Dean hold his breath while he was anxiously waiting for what was going to happen. Something was coming from the earth. It looked like a human, but it wasn’t. now Dean finally understood. The Arachnes had built their home underground. Dean told Cas, who nodded. “how are we going to get in there? We can’t just walk into the open air. We would get caught or murdered.” “I know, I’m working on a plan, but I don’t think it’s going to be successful.” Dean said. “okay, let’s hear it then.” Cas said. “okay, I thought, we can’t get in by ourselves, so I say we get ourselves a little help.” “but where do you want to get help?” Cas asked. “shh, don’t interrupt me, I wasn’t finished yet. If we let ourselves get caught in the webs, they will take us inside. They will storage us for a few days and then eat us, but if we can get out the webs, we are inside, and we can find Sammy.” Dean said. “it’s stupid.” Cas said. “let’s do it.” Dean looked surprised at Cas. “well, I don’t have a better idea, and we always do stupid stuff, so let’s give it a shot. If it doesn’t work out we won’t be better off than just walking in and trying to kill everyone, what would be impossible, so I figured it’s the least dangerous idea of all.” He said and smiled. Dean smiled back enthusiastically. “okay let’s find Sammy.” He said while walking back into the woods. When they finally found a tree that was high enough and was climbable they climbed up and got stuck in the webs. They just lay there covered in webs looking like hotdogs. It took a couple minutes for the Arachnes to notice that something was stuck in their webs. A few cut them loose from the surrounding webs and took them to the ground. They walked to the open spot and Dean could just see the earth opening up for them. They walked in. everything was covered in webs and they were brought to a room where more people-looking-like-hotdogs were laying all over the floor. They just got dumped in the middle of them and Dean could barely hold his groan. When the creatures were gone they waited a couple of minutes. Dean tried to grab the knife in his pocket and cut the strings off himself. When he got out he saw Cas struggling to get his knife. He just rolled all over the place and Dean thought it was quite an amusing sight. After smiling for a couple of seconds he grabbed his knife and also cut the strings off of Cas. Cas was covered in sweat and his eyes were big. “I thought I was never going to get out of there!” he whispered and got up with the help of Dean. They sneaked out the room and ended up in a great hall covered in webs. There weren’t any windows and the little bit of light came from the fireflies inside. It would’ve looked magical, if it wouldn’t have been an Arachnes cave. They moved to the other side of the all, and surprisingly didn’t bump into any of the creatures. When they reached the end of the hall they opened the door a bit, so they could see what was in the other room. It was packed with Arachnesses and Dean shut the door quiet, but quickly. He had seen Sam. Covered in blood on a stair at the other side of the room. The whole room was packed with the creatures. “how are we going to get Sammy out of there?” he asked himself and Cas. “I don’t know. Maybe we could blend in and try to move to the front?” Cas suggested. “blend in?! these creatures would notice immediately if an intruder came walking in that room!” Dean whisper-shouted at Cas. “okay, maybe not a good idea, but do you have anything better?” he asked. “no.” Dean said. “Cas, what should we do?” he started walking up and down in front of the door. He didn’t hear the steps coming their way. Cas sat down on a little stairwell next to the door, in the shadows. Then the door opened and Dean was in bare sight. Cas watched paralysed how Dean was taken prisoner and was brought into the room. Cas just sat there for a moment, having no idea what to do. Now he had to rescue Dean and Sam both. How could he pull that off for God’s sake? He stood straight and looked at the stair behind him. I wonder where that would lead to, he thought. He walked up and ended up standing on a balcony where he could overlook the whole room where all the creatures were. He saw Dean and Sam tied up in front of a big crowd of Arachnes. Dean had notices him and send him a helpless smile, signalling that Cas had to get them out of there. Only if Cas knew how….
