Jade's POV
Since the kids went to the same school, Leigh and the twins rode with us and we dropped them all off. We walked them in together, but separated since they were in different grades.
Together, they sounded like a whole kindergarten classroom in my backseat, and I loved them all dearly, but man was I grateful for the silence, and I could tell Leigh was too.
I leaned against my car stuffing my face with a sandwich while I waited for her to come back out. I noticed a little tickle in my throat, and that I was starting to feel sort of sluggish.
I sighed, hoping I wasn't getting sick. That was the last thing I needed right now. I pushed the thought away and was nearly finished with my sandwich when Leigh strolled up to me.
"What are you eating?" She said, looking at me.
"A turkey sandwich." I mumbled, still chewing. "Want some?" I waved the sandwich in her face.
"No, I don't want any of your chewed up sandwich." She rolled her eyes.
I shrugged and continued eating.
"Where in the hell did you even get a sandwich?" She asked.
"My baby packed it for me." I replied.
I thought of her and smiled brightly as I finished. Then I pulled the juice box she packed out of my purse.
"Are you serious?" Leigh laughed. "A juice box, Jade? While we're on this mission to do who knows what? What are you going to pull out next, a bib and applesauce?"
"You didn't bring breakfast?" I asked, sipping my tasty juice, not caring in the slightest that she was judging me.
"No, Jade. I didn't bring breakfast. We haven't even started yet." She sighed and I shrugged, still sipping my juice. "I guess I'll drive while you feed your face."
She pushed me aside and got in the driver's seat. I walked around to the passenger's seat and put my seatbelt on.
"You know where it is right?" I asked, pulling out a cookie.
She looked over at me and shook her head and I shrugged again.
"Yes, I know." She said.
"When shit hits the fan, you're going to wish your hot sexy fiancé made you a yummy sandwich for breakfast." I said, munching on my cookie and washing it down with the last of my juice.
"Are you expecting shit to hit the fan?" She raised her brow.
"You should always expect the unexpected, Leigh." I glanced out the window. "Isn't that like lesson one in police school?"
"Also, I don't have a hot sexy fiancé to make me food." She rolled her eyes.
"Do you want one?" I asked, raising a brow.
"Do you know someplace where they're just handing them out?" She asked.
I laughed. "No. Sorry. Mine is one of a kind, but I'm sure there's a second best somewhere out there. Are you looking?"
She sighed. "I'm not NOT looking. I just don't have the time. And when I do, most guys see a badge and suddenly their dicks shrivel up and they get intimidated."
I laughed again. "Well, maybe it's not a guy you need. Nothing to shrivel up down there because it's already shriveled up."
"What?" She asked.
"What?" I asked too, and she just shook her head.
"Are you suggesting I date women?" She asked.
"Have you never?" I asked.
