Chapter 1

P.O.V/ Nicole Henderson:

Death is the number one fear of humans. It leaves a heartache that no one can heal but love can leave a memory that nobody can steal. But love is not always smiles and laughter you aren't always gonna get along with your partner; There will be hard times. There will be fights, words that you wish you never said, things you wish you could take back cause once you say something you can't take it back... Alex said " Just admit it Nicole! you like Riley!" I said " I don't Alex! please you've got to stop being so jealous! it's driving me crazy!" Alex said " It's called territorial I'm protecting what's mine!" I said " What I am? your property or something!? you don't own me!" Alex said " I feel threaten by her because I can see that she is trying to steal you away from me!" I said " Just stop! I don't want to talk about it anymore!" Alex said " Classic Nicole always avoiding her problems". I said " I'm not avoiding anything. you are being ridiculous". Alex said " Whatever I'm done arguing about this". I said " Finally". Alex said " Have fun being single I'm not putting up with your bullshit anymore". I said " Fine!! be that way! because you can't accuse me of being in love with someone else when you know that I love you!" Alex said " Do you Nicole? because I'm not sure anymore". I said " I do... you know that".. Alex said " Not anymore"... She walks out of my bedroom and down the stairs where I hear the front door open then slam shut. I slam my bedroom door and lay on my bed on my back. An hour later my iPhone 3g rings I raise up and pick it up from the night stand I slide the answer button and hear my mom's worried tone " Nic... there was an accident on highway 61 Alex, her mom and her sister are in the hospital they are all in critical condition..." I'm sobbing as I listen to her. I hang up the phone and stand up teleporting as I do red energy swirls around me until I disappear. I teleport in the woods by the Peterson hospital where my mom, Jane Henderson has worked as an APRN for twenty-years. I walk out of the woods and into a parking lot which just happens to be the back parking lot of my high school called Finway it's Saturday I walk across the street and across the parking lot to a revolving door that leads me to the waiting room of the emergency room. I see my two best friends Carly Stevens and Jenny Lawson in the waiting room they are sobbing uncontrollably I see my mom walk out of the trauma area I see her and quickly walk up to her. I said frantically " How are they?!" I see her eyes tearing up as she speaks. She said " It's really bad they were in a car pile up along with many other people". I said " Is that why Carly and Jenny are here?" She said " Kyle was in the car pile up but Carly and Kim weren't with him and both of Jenny's parents were in it she wasn't in the car with them. I'll keep you updated". I hear a deep voice call my name " Nicole". I look back and see my Dad standing there with tears running down his face he pulls me into a hug I cry with him Kyle is my Dad's best friend. About fifteen minutes later my Mom walks out with tears running down her face as she walks over to Carly and Carly's mom, Kim who is also my Mom's best friend from school. Kim stands up from the chair and sees Mom's face. Mom said as she cried " I'm so sorry Kim... but Kyle didn't make it..." Carly exclaims in agony as she breaks down as Jenny hugs her tightly. Carly lowers herself to the floor with Jenny and screams into her shoulder. Kim exclaims " Nooo!!!!" she sobs in anguish as she collapses into Mom's arms. I hear my Dad sobbing in anguish I look over at him standing by the wall running his fingers through his black hair. I walk over and pull him into a hug as he cries on my shoulder. Diana Williams, a doctor and a friend of my mom's walks out she pulls down her surgical mask and my mom walks over to her. Diana whispers something to her I walk up to them and said " Did they make it?..." Mom said " Dana and Avery passed away but Alex is still fighting". Diana pulls her mask back up and walks back through the doors after scanning her card. I said to my mom " Did Kat and James make it?" She said quietly " They were D.O.A. Jenny already knows". About thirty minutes go by until Diana walks out she pulls down her mask and said to me " I'm so sorry but Alex didn't make it".. I cover my mouth and scream in agony as I hit the floor on my knees. I scream and cry as Mom holds me in her arms.
