A Hero's Journey - Mysterion's Story

Chapter 1: Intro to A Hero's Journey

       It was 7:20 am in the morning, and Kenny was still awake. He hadn't slept well for the past 9 days, and the voices in his head were to blame for. Kenny has been hearing voices saying "Amaranth, , and-"

KENNY HURRY UP" He heard a voice holler outside, 

he looked out his window, and saw his 4 friends, Craig, Clyde, Bradley and Kyle. He had already brushed his teeth and changed his clothes a while ago, so he grabbed his backpack and headed downstairs. He would usually find his parents arguing in the living room, but that was 3 weeks ago. His parents had gotten arrested for child neglect and since Kenny was an only child, he'd stayed home alone, but usually every 5 days a week, a police officer would come and check on him, and so would the neighbors.

"Did you stay up again?" asked Kyle,

Kenny slowly nodded his head. Kenny wasn't much of a talker let alone a social person, but his friends were, so usually he'd let his friends talk and he would just listen to them. Once they arrived at school the bell had already rung, so the friends hurried up to their classes. Craig was the only person in Kenny's first class, and he wasn't the talkative type either, so they made a pretty good pair when it came to class projects. He couldn't stop thinking about the voices, were they just his imagination or were they real, Kenny hadn't eaten breakfast for a few days, so it could just be him hearing things.

Kenny's your average blondie with blue eyes, he's 13 years old and usually wears his orange parka to school covering his blond hair. Everything about Kenny was probably like other people, but the thing is Kenny's a superhero and so were his friends. He and his friends saved the city multiple times, but no one knows their true identities like most superheroes, but the thing that makes Kenny stand out than any other superhero is he can't die. No matter how many times he gets stabbed, shot, or drowns, he always ends up in his bed with bandages wrapped around his arms, legs or body. He thinks of this power as a curse because every time he dies and wakes up on his bed, his friends act like everything's fine and nothing had happened.

Identity / Superhero identity / Age / Power:

Kenny - Mysterion - 13 - immortality

Craig - Super Craig - 14 - Super strength and can take flight

Bradley - Mintberry Crunch - 13 - Power to make berries appear and kill enemies, looks harmless, but is poisonous.

Kyle - Human Kite - 14 - Ability to take flight and blast enemies with ranged attacks

Clyde - Mosquito - 13 - Can heal himself, has powerful ranged attacks

"What is the answer to question 4 Kenny?... Kenny? "asked Mr. Garrison.

Kenny was still thinking about the voices,

"Kenny!" Mr. Garrison said impatiently.

Kenny was a little shook, usually the teacher wouldn't call on him.

"Y-yes?" Kenny asked stuttered,

"What is the answer to question 4?" Mr. Garrison repeated.

Kenny looked at his paper filled with doodles, then at the chalkboard.

"Uh, is it B?" he guessed,

Mr. Garrison sighed,

"No, try paying more attention Kenny," the teacher said disapprovingly.

Kenny replied to this with a nod.

Kenny had an average grade in school, he wanted a higher grade, but he just couldn't concentrate. The voices were most likely his imagination, but they felt so real. After all his classes, he started to walk home, it was very silent, then he started to hear the voices again, "Kuatiou, Amaranth, hurry, Hurry Mysterion." Kenny froze, the voices had never used his name before, but he didn't understand, why did he need to hurry?

"KENNY WAIT" he turned around.

It was just his friends,

"Kenny why'd you leave us" Bradley whined,

"Kenny you've been acting weird ever since last week" Craig stated.

"Is something wrong?" asked Clyde catching up to Kenny.

Kenny had already told them about the voices, but they told him that he probably was just hearing things. He didn't want to bother them about it more, so he just said,

"I didn't see you guys, so I just left."

"Oh, well ok then" Clyde responded,

Kenny stopped at his house, "I'm fine really, so stop worrying, this is my stop bye guys" he said in a calming tone.

After a couple of bye's Kenny went into his house, but then looked out the window to make sure his friends left, then he went back out and headed to the library. He wanted to see if he could find anything explaining about the voices. He went to the fantasy section, and found three books, "Voices in the Wind", "How to Know If your Hallucinating", and' Mythical voices." None of them explained anything useful, so he left the books on the table and walked back home, as he was walking home, he heard a shuffling noise. Someone was following him.
