PERCY
Oliver and I walked to the sidewalk and through the city. We stopped in front of a familiar building to cross the street. I looked at the building and a bunch if kids were walking out. Oliver looked over there too, and his eyes widened. He quickly folded over and turned into a Labrador again.
"Uh, what was that for?" I asked.
"Um......... n-nothing," Oliver quickly said. I rolled my eyes and saw a familiar girl with curly red hair and jeans with marker drawn on them.
"Rachel?" I asked. She turned around from the direction she was walking.
"Percy!" she crushed me in a hug. "I love your dog! It's so cute!" She bent down and pet Oliver.
"Yea, well don't boost his ego," I muttered. Oliver looked at me and seemed to smile. I glared at him.
"What are you doing here?" Rachel asked as she stood back up from her crouching position.
"Well, we were headed for California. We were hit by something while flying on a Pegasus and then met a merman named Trident, and met a girl named Christina, and now we're talking to you." She slowly nodded.
"So since you're a demigod in all, is this a real dog?" se asked while looking at Oliver suspiciously. He gulped as I looked around.
"Yea. Totally!" I said almost to happily.
"Mm-hmm." Rachel looked at Oliver and held out her hand. Her eyes glowed emerald green. "Show me your secrets," she said in an odd voice. Oliver looked uncomfortable but eventually turned back into himself.
"You!" she said. Oliver took a step back to avoid a slap to the face.
"Yea. So what?" Oliver angrily asked.
"Uh, what are you two talking about?" I asked confused.
The two started talking at the same time.
"Shut up!" I yelled. They immediately stopped talking and looked at me. "Rachel, you can go first."
Rachel smiled. "Thanks Percy. Well, it all started on orientation. We met and were friends for awhile. Then, he started blowing me off when we were supposed to hang out." Oliver rolled his eyes. "Then, we went to a Greek museum. When we were sitting at the fountain and eating, he randomly pushed me into the water! And every time I tried to get up, I just got pushed back down until I finally got up, and he wasn't there. I was super mad, and thought I couldn't get madder until I heard laughing. Almost the whole grade saw me. When he didn't apologize the next day, I vowed I wouldn't talk to him again. It was easy since he left that school the next day."
As Rachel told the story, I looked at Oliver who was looking at the ground.
"Was that true?" I asked him.
Oliver sighed. "Yea. But I have good reasons! I pushed you under because I was being attacked by monsters and I didn't want you to get hurt. I left the same day because I was trying to get the monsters away from all of the people. I wanted to go and apologize, but my dad took me away and we moved to Michigan. I really wanted to apologize and tell you the truth, but my dad wouldn't let me. I-I'm sorry," Oliver stepped towards Rachel and gave her a hug. She looked like she didn't believe him and she wanted to hurt him, but she just hugged him too.
"Wait, you're a demigod too?" she asked and pulled away.
"Yea. Son of Aphrodite and grandson of Hades." Rachel nodded until she froze, her eyes turned emerald green. She collapsed and Oliver caught her so she wouldn't kill herself hitting the sidewalk. Green smoke came out of her mouth as a strange voice spoke.
The gods are missing their item of power.
Darkness will rise higher with each passing hour.
The main seven, along with much-needed help, will be the ones to recover the tokens.
Old enemies will be seen, and some new ones will rise.
And in the end, life is the prize.
Oliver and I stared at her. He was totally freaked.
"Rach?" Oliver asked. He snapped his fingers in her face and it was really loud, but she stayed like that. "Taxi?"
"Lets go to my mom's house," I suggested. I hailed a cab (which Oliver thought as amazing) and we climbed inside with Rachel across his lap. I was honestly surprised we weren't getting weird looks from the driver.
We arrived minutes later, and Rachel was still asleep. I walked to my mom's apartment with Oliver following while carrying Rachel.
"Mom!!! You home?!" I asked. My voice echoed as she and Paul came into the kitchen from the living room.
"Percy!!!" my mom yelled and crushed me into a hug. Paul joined the hug. I heard a throat clearing and I looked over at Oliver. My mom and Paul looked at him also.
"Oh yea. That's Oliver Zhang. He's a son of Aphrodite and grandson of Hades," I said while looking at him. He nodded to my mom and Paul as they waved.
"Where can I set Rachel?" Oliver asked with a slightly strained voice.
"On the couch," my mom relieved Oliver and he nodded and quickly walked off.
"Guess who's also here," my mom squealed.
"Uh is it-" I heard stomping and a surprised yelp and then a familiar boy with one eye in the middle of his head appeared through the door.
"BROTHER!!!" he yelled and crushed some bones in a hug.
"Tyson! Hi!" I choked out while struggling to breathe. I saw Oliver walk in.
"He smells like death," Tyson sorta whispered to me as he pointed at Oliver.
"Ah," I said.
"He also smells like roses." I raised an eyebrow.
"Why are you smelling him?" I asked Tyson. He just shrugged his shoulders and ran up to Oliver and crushed him in a hug. Oliver looked highly startled.
"Let go," he croaked out.
"I'm Tyson!" Tyson yelled.
"I'm Oliver, now let me go," Oliver grunted. I looked at Tyson who looked at me then let go.
"Good Tyson. Why are you here?" I asked. He looked around.
"It's about dad."
