A shaken panicky Kazuma stood, glaring at the Dullahan who was very much enjoying the sudden turn of events. Kazuma began to think of ways to escape the situation with their lives intact.

Kazuma: Shit! Shit! This is bad!

He glanced to the drained and shaken up Megumin who rode on his back for support.

Kazuma: Megumin's out of magical power and Aqua's holy magic isn't enough to deliver the final blow. And Y/n's...

He shook his head. Now wasn't the time to grieve the loss of his friend. He had to get his remaining companions out of their horrible predicament.

Kazuma broke sweat. It was looking quite grim for the group of misfit adventurers. But when they were almost tempted to give up--

Adventurer #21: Hey, Kid! No need to fear! The city's ace in the hole will be here soon!

Adventurer #37: Yeah! Dosen't matter if he's a leader in the Demon King's army or whatever!

The background charact-- I mean important plot devi-- I mean adventurers, ahem, rallied with Kazuma. They were confident that they could take a single undead down since they had the numbers to do so.

Kazuma: Huh? The city's ace in the hole?

He wondered what exactly they were talking about.

Adventurer #77: We can create a blind spot if we all rush him at the same time! Everyone! Get him!

Immediately, five of the bravest, most idiotic adventurers I've ever seen charged and surrounded Verdia in a wide arc.

Verdia: Oh? It appears you lot wish to die first.

The dullahan throws his head straight up into the air, ignoring the side fodde-- sorry, very much appreciated, time buying, adventurers.

Kazuma: !?!

As a giant flaming eye appeared where Verdia threw his head and Kazuma shouted for the foolish adventurers to retreat, they ignored the warnings as they all swung their weapons at Verdia. But easily dodges them all thanks to his visual advantage.

Verdia: Hrrngh!

*Schoom*

He swings his sword in a wide circle and one by one, the five guys who were too cocky got themselves sliced up into yesterday's lunch.

Darkness, who saw it happen, gasped and was horrified by the corrupt knight's act.

Verdia: *catches head* Who's next?

Adventurer girl: W-When Mitsurugi-san gets here, he'll slay you with a single swing of his cursed sword, gram!

The girl who was previously accused of being the one who constantly blew up Verdia's castle spoke with a little bit of uncertainty in her voice.

Kazuma's eyes go wide as he looked behind him and at the girl who spoke just now.

Kazuma: Mitsurugi? You mean the city's ace in the hole...is the guy whose cursed sword we stole and sold?

Verdia: Oh? A single swipe you say...?

He began to approach Kazuma and Megumin, menacingly. In an act to protect her vulnerable friends, Darkness stands in front of the dullahan's way as she takes out her sword and assumes a stance.
