"Where have you been? I called nearly ten times," Heath squinted through the computer camera, trying to examine Lennon's hotel room.
She sighed, running a hand through her freshly washed hair, "I'm sorry, I got stuck at set longer than I thought. I just got out of the shower, see?"
Lennon held up her wet ringlets so Heath wouldn't press her further. He rolled his eyes, though.
"Could've called. It's half past two in the morning here, I waited all night."
"I'm sorry, you're right, but I was just busy Heath." Lennon was trying her best not to get agitated, but she could tell her was going to begin his over questioning.
Heath looked around the living room, trying to stop himself from getting upset, but he couldn't help the weird feeling in the pit of his stomach.
"Who did you walk back to the hotel with? Usually you don't take–"
Shaking her head, Lennon clasped her hands together to stop herself from hanging up the call.
"Heath." She interrupted his anxiety filled speech, "I love you. Everything is fine, you have nothing to worry about."
He sighed, "okay. I just get worried."
"How's Nick? Everything went well for the six month checkup?"
Heath nodded his head, he continued keeping his eyes trained on their checkerboard carpet, finding himself still worked up over Lennon's lateness. She had always called him or at least answered his calls no matter what, so something was going on.
"Yeah. Everything went well," he lifted his eyes from the floor, gazing at Lennon's tired frame. "I'll let you go, Lennon. Call me in the morning."
Not giving her a chance to respond, Heath quickly ended the call and shut the laptop with a slam. He grabbed it and put it on the kitchen island, beginning to pace back and forth.
After several minutes of pacing he reached for the phone, dialing Jake regardless of the clock reading 2:45 in the morning.
"... Heath? What's wrong man?" Jake's voice sounded slurred, but concerned.
"I need you to do me a big favor."

By seven o'clock (Paris time), after a lengthy flight, Heath found himself stood in front of Lennon's hotel. He only brought his tainted backpack which held a few minuscule items. Anxiously breathing out loud, he made his way inside the hotel, dodging the front desk thanks to a couple complaining.
The elevator doors opening in time for him to make it in without a bellhop helping, and as the doors closed he shakily pressed the button for the tenth floor.
For whatever reason Heath had created a scenario in his head where he was going to walk into Lennon and another man in her room, and the lack of drugs in his system didn't ease the anxiety.
As the elevator doors opened, Heath's eyes fixated on the door at the end of the hall. Behind those doors would lay the fate of their relationship, which Heath was hoping to not witness what he had imagined. Part of him felt like an idiot for flying all the way from New York just to ensure his girlfriend- actually Fiancé, wasn't doing anything suspicious. But he needed to witness it for himself.
Once he reached the end of the hallway he grabbed at the doorknob turning it to see if Lennon had left it unlocked like she always did (much to his dismay). It was locked, though. Suspicious.
He knocked on the door, at first lightly and then as seconds passed he began to bang, slightly.
Hearing the sudden banging on the door Lennon dropped her script, and began to walk over, confused at the sudden intrusion. Without looking through the peephole she opened the door, eyes widening at the sight before her.
There Heath stood, clad in shorts and knee socks, with his fedora that she hated so much atop his head.
Her eyes stayed wide as her jaw dropped slightly, "what the-"
Ignoring her surprised frame, Heath barged into the room investigating the space to ensure no witness was hidden under the bed or in a closet. After exiting the bathroom, he sheepishly stood in front of Lennon feeling stupid that his imagination had brought him to this extent.
"Um?" Lennon stared at him waiting for an explanation. He looked embarrassed, and part of her wanted to laugh because she knew what he was doing, but she couldn't help but feel hurt at his significant distrust in her.
"I'm sorry," Heath walked closer to her, letting his hands cup her face. "I got worried."
Lennon smiled and rolled her eyes, "you are absolutely insane. You seriously took that long ass flight to come here and snoop- wait, where is our son?"
"Jake." Heath sighed, "I feel bad now."
"I mean you should." Lennon couldn't help but admit that his actions were a bit of a stretch. "But I'm glad you're here I guess. Even though I come home in two weeks."
"I'm sorry."
Lennon laughed, she could feel his embarrassment radiating. She held his hands against her, standing on her tip toes so she could finally kiss him. She had missed his soft lips and the way he always tasted like cake batter chapstick, or the way he always smelled like Christmas.
"I love you, and I'm glad you're here, but we've got to work on trust tactics."
