THE NEXT MORNING, Heath woke up slightly startled at the arms wrapped around his hips. He relaxed when he realized it was Lennon's messy bun that was spread across his chest, a small smile forming on his face. She snored softly, and barely twitched when he slowly removed himself from the bed to go to the bathroom.
Looking at himself in the mirror, Heath inspected his cheeks that had finally regained their normal hue. He had slight stubble, but he was quick to shave it. Ever since the incident his skin had endured a lot of stress acne, but after multiple facials Heath finally felt better about himself. And it was in good timing too, considering the premiere of the Dark Knight was soon.
As much as Heath hadn't admit to himself, everyone and anyone knew he was going to be the next big thing. After the revelation of his joker performance, Heath's publicist was certain that the phone might break from too many calls from casting directors. It was nerve racking to say the least, but after speaking with Chris (Nolan) on the phone last week, Heath was beginning to ooze confidence.
Exiting the bathroom, Heath smiled at Lennon's sleeping figure before quickly heading into Nick's room. The baby was still sleeping, and considering it was half past eight, Heath was surprised to say the least. He turned the baby monitor on, and exited the room to check on Matilda who was also asleep. Feeling lucky, Heath shrugged and decided to make a run for breakfast instead of waiting to see when one of them would wake up.
"Fuck it," he thought.
With a guessing game of ten minutes to spare before one of the kids awoke, Heath rushed downstairs to the Starbucks on the corner. It really was his lucky day because there was no line, and he was able to order everything within five minutes. After they called his fake name 'Tom,' Heath grabbed the tray and bag and quickly ran back to the apartment.
When he made it inside, he placed everything on the island in the kitchen, furrowing his brows at the quietness. Surely one of them had to be awake, it was almost nine fifteen.
Instead of leaving the food and drinks downstairs, Heath walked back up to Nick's room where his crib lay empty. Matilda's bed was also clear of her body, but he was able to solve the mystery when he entered his and Lennon's room. Lennon was sat feeding Nick, while Matilda sat with her legs crossed watching Max & Ruby.
"There you are," Lennon sighed in relief, "I just got them settled."
Heath shook his head and laughed knowing this was going to happen, "well I thought I was going to be lucky and have them sleep in for a bit, but I thought wrong."
"They've been awake for about fifteen, how long have you been gone?"
"Fifteen." Heath laughed and raised the coffee and bag from Starbucks. "I wanted to surprise you."
Lennon held a hand to her heart, "wow, my Prince Charming brought me Starbucks and I didn't even have to ask."
"Grande mocha cookie crumble," Heath rolled his eyes at the name but handed it to the brunette. "And a breakfast sandwich."
