"So, you and Luke eh?" I asked Alice whilst untying my trainers.

"I think so; we are going to try it out. We are both aware of how crazy this is, but we are also quite prepared to skype and that. Honestly, I don't think it'll work- he seems nice, but I suspect he’s probably got a girlfriend back home." She paused and sighed,

"But enough about me, I wanna know what's happening between you and that Canadian boy."

What about that awkward mess? Pahahaha no.

"Nothing, really, Shawn is not something big."

Alice gave me an amused look and swung her gym bag over her shoulder.

Well, if you say so, but I think your gazing at him all lessons begs to differ."

"I did not stare at him all lesson!"

"Well for 99% of it you were watching him like this,"

Alice pulled a face that can only be described as a Kim Kardashian look, but with her mouth even more open and a double chin. She giggled at my clearly irritated face as she sprayed herself with her impulse body spray and started to head out of the changing rooms.

"I'ma go get my lunch - meet you on the bleachers, okay?"

I nodded my head and pulled my jumper on, adjusted my skirt and slipped on my massively over-sized blazer. I made my way over to the changing room mirrors and forced - emphasis on the force- my hair out of the bun and let it down. As per usual, I had no idea how to tame the mass of knots and freak curls that tumbled out. I brushed it with my fingers until it became presentable beachy waves, pinning up the front section just in time to hear the lunch bell go off. Also just on time to see Maddie's reflection in the  mirror.

 Oh great.

Possibly the last person I want to see right now.

Because she's so kind and understanding.

Detect the sarcasm?

She turned to face me. Maddie raised her eyebrows and put her head forward.

“Look, just go back to the nobody's club where you belong. The Canadians don't want the wrong impression of Britain, you know, with filth like you just lying around."

 Ummm.

I had never been spoken like that to before. In fact, I had never even, well, spoken properly to Maddie. We were in completely opposite friend groups. She was one of those girls famous in the area for having a bit of a bad reputation when it came to relationships. You know, the reputation you get  from going to boy to boy like I go to the cupboard to get biscuits?  – aka. a lot.
And it wasn't unknown that she wasn't the nicest of people. There we're plenty of people who's lives she had made a living hell. Luckily not mine, but  the way this conversation was heading, that could all change - I just had to play my cards right. I wasn't in the position to be trying to make enemies.

“Bitch, stop trying to hit on boys you can't get." Maddie glared at me.

I haven't hit on any boys as far as I am aware.

I've only fallen on them.

"In case your stupid little brain doesn't understand what I am saying. Just stay away from Shawn. He deserves better than whores like you."

Shawn? This is about Shawn?

"It's rude to not look at people when they are talking Elvira."

Ahh yes Maddie, clearly social rules are so important to you.

Until this point I had just been looking down at my sleeves, trying to roll up the blazer so it wasn'to so oversized on the arms, pretending that she wasn’t even there. But now, I decided to stand up for myself. Alice always told me I had to be more sassy, Alice is the queen of comebacks and sass.

Adrenaline filled me as I  flung my head up to face her,  and looked at her right in the eyes.

"Whore." She stated. As if labeling me.

I thought it was pretty ironic. I hadn't ever really had a boyfriend, been on a date or even kissed anyone yet and she calls me that. Really? Maddie, however, was the opposite. Pretty much made out with and tried to do goodness knows what with every boy she has ever met.

I raised an eyebrow, stunned, and Maddie narrowed her eyes.

"Listen Ellie, you dipshit, you need to -"

"Stay away? From who? If it's you then okay, fine by me. I'm leaving."

"You're still a whore!" She shouted from across the changing room as I walked towards the door. I turned the handle and held it open with my foot. I sarcastically clapped my hands as I spoke,

"That insult. Bravo. You're really showing off your talent to the world."

And with that,  I closed the door behind me, feeling like an absolute badass.

 That.

Felt.

Great.

Mind you, I should probably stay clear of her now.

I set off down the corridor, walking faster than usual in case maddie decided to come out of the changing rooms and find me. When I finally reached my locker, I shoved my gym kit in, grabbed my bag and headed out to meet Alice on the bleachers for lunch.
