I looked around for Alice in the gym hall. I still hadn't told her about my encounter with "Shawn". I don't know why, but I just couldn't get him off my mind. I mean, I knew I would never see him again but...I don't know. He was nice to me and seemed genuine, but he probably did that to all the girls here. Plus, I am so socially awkward I could never even ask for his number or whatever you ask for.
I scanned all the heads around me, looking for Alice's blonde ponytail.
Gees Alice - where you at?
I finally spotted her at the back of the hall, talking to some of the exchange students. One of them had his hand around her waist. I'm guessing this is Luke - "the cute one" that she told me about in the changing rooms. I walked on over and as I did, I could sense someone's eyes on me, but I didn't dare look round.
Alice laughed loudly and batted her eyelashes at the sandy-haired boy.
Typical Alice.
I stood there in front of Alice and the exchange student, both so fixed on each other that they didn't notice I was even there.
Rude!
When that event( what was later described as "we had a moment!"by an excited Alice) ended by me having an awkward coughing fit. Alice finally noticed I was there and smiled before introducing me: "Luke, this is Elvira."
"You can call me Ellie," I said with my wonky smile.
"Wait, Elvira? Sorry I don't mean to sound creepy, but I recognize your name. I mean, I heard it earlier - someone was talking about you in the changing rooms."
ahaha-you what now?
"Oh my God, " Luke started," That sounds so dodgy! It wasn't in that way though! I can't remember his name - you see he's one of the exchange students that came from a different college." He started to laugh, " But I remember him being really pissed at himself because he said that ''he liked to watch Disney films infront of a 15 year old pretty girl!'' He was bright red, it was hilarious! "
Alice glared at me.
"And you were planning to tell me this when?" She asked.
"It was probably another Elvira-" I started.
"You are the only Elvira in this school, and the only that I know doofus - now tell me why you didn't tell me!"
"I don't know, I guess I just brushed it off."
Ha...well that's a lie.
"ELLLLLIIIEEEE?" Someone shouted across the hall. I turned round to see Jax summoning me.
Thank God I don't have to stick around in this awkward conversation anymore!
"Sorry guys I have to go - Jax wants to talk to me! See ya Alice, bye Luke!"
I turned on my heels and started to make my way over to Jax.
Typical me. I was so concentrated on getting away from that conversation, I wasn't really paying attention to where I was going. So, I didn't notice that I ran over to Jax into the way of some boys messing around with a basketball.
The next thing I knew, was that I had tripped over a basketball and straight into someone, with such a force that I knocked them over as well. I landed straight on top of them. I shut my eyes with embarrassment, only to hear a voice from the unfortunate person I had landed on:
"Easy tiger."
Shit.
I recognized that accent.
I opened one eye.
Double shit.
I had landed on Shawn.
