Chapter 18

I could hear it  before I could see it.
The party was a bonfire party,  in the middle of this meant-to-be-exclusive field/garden somewhere. We were running about an hour  late (due to tonnes of drunk people running around the roads) so the party had already got started. The loud, thumping bass of chart music was echoing all  around the field.

I wasn't really a party type of gal. In London, I never went out to huge ass parties like this. There never was any to go to - I  was never in the right crowd. Therefore, I had pretty much based all my expectations of parties like this on American shows and movies. That in itself was probably a bad idea, and yet, the scene before me was just how I pictured it:  Masses of young adults spilled out around the bonfire, cradling red cups in their hands.

I climbed out the taxi and made my way across the field. It was dusk, in about 20 minutes though, I recon it'll be dark.
I pushed my way past sweaty,  badly dancing bodies until I  reached the drinks table. I didn't want to make a huge fool of myself so I grabbed a coke instead of a glass filled with dodgy-looking punch. Coke in hand, I wondered over to the bonfire and swayed to the music coming out of the DJ Booth. The DJ booth was  on this sturdy(ish) pop up stage next to the fire. People were crowding around the bonfire in the centre, like moths  drawn to a flame. They were doing crazy dances and things they would definitely regret in the morning.

I undid the coke and took a huge gulp.

I wish I had friends right now.

"Hey there,"

I span round.  The voice belonged to a boy who looked around my age, brown hair, chestnut/green eyes and a bright red bandana on his head. I'm gonna call this fellow bandana boy.

"Hi?"

He smiled a huge cheesy grin.  He looked like he was trying to keep a straight face, I can't work out why thou-

A pair of arms wrapped around me and threw me over their shoulder. In shock, I threw my coke can into the twerking crowd,  it's contents spilling up into the air. Bandana boy started to laugh.

Omfg what if I'm being kidnapped or something - I haven't even performed yet - or called Alice - she's going to kill me if these guys don't - I'm in the middle of a party!

The arms powerfully picked me up and placed me on their shoulder. I started to hammer my fists  on the persons lower back . Being  thrown over their shoulder, I couldn't see anything except the back of their T-shirt. If they didn't tell me who they were soon, I was tempted to wiggle my legs around and hope that it would hit somewhere they would regret!

"It's alright,  don't get Nashty."

I recognized Cameron's voice from somewhere around my left side.

"Cameron! Who the hell is kidnapping  me?"

The shoulder that I was hoisted up on started to shake in a chuckle. I would recognize that laugh anywhere.

"NASH!" I squealed, "PUT MEEE DOOWWNNN!"

"Only if you calm it Heyes," came his reply.

I shut my mouth and he lifted me down.

Thank God I wore shorts today.

I gave him a tight hug and glanced around, suddenly aware of a large group of boys around me.

"I see you have met my partners in crime?" Nash asked, gesturing to the boys.

All of them seemed to be  a little older than me. They all looked excited and had grins plastered to their faces. One of the taller ones, with dark brown hair and flawless eyebrows, was leaning tipsily against a shorter blonde haired boy. He drunkily smirked and the blonde haired boy flashed me a smile.

"This is the Magcon squad:" stated Cameron.

"I'm Taylor," Bandana boy said.

"Matt."

"Aaron."

"Carter."

"Jack  J. "

"Jack G."

"Hi guys!" I said enthusiastically,

Whoa that coke hype came fast.

I smiled at each boy in turn, all of them seem pretty friendly.

Then something hit me,

Not literally, don't worry

"Hey Nash? How did you get into the party? I thought it was exclusive?"

"We have our sources." He tapped his nose.

I didn't care though, we were having a great time, dancing and messing around. It was fantastic. We took selfies, tweeted, vined- the whole lot.  I actually felt popular, I felt like the life of the party. This spontaneous American life had really loosened me up.

Hours had  passed when suddenly, a huge fizzing sound erupts from the stage, the speakers stop. Everyone goes quiet.

"Oh shit." The DJ  mutters, clearly not noticing that the microphone was still on - or just hyped to care.

"Sorry folks, seems our ravin' DJ Booth seemed to have partied to hard. I know, how about we have a pre-tour performance? Come on, let's open mic it. To start it off, how about a performance from of the tour members? AYE?"

The crowd responded "AYE! AYE! AYE!" In time with the air punches that the DJ was doing.

I blushed, I didn't think that Taylor (Swift, not Nash's friend) would perform, so I guess I would have to. All the Magcon boys were looking at me, I guess waiting for me to go. I straightened out my top and was about to move towards the direction of the pop-up stage, when the crowd erupted into cheer. It was absolutely deafening. Nash gave me a huge grin. He said something, but I couldn't hear over the noise of the crowd.

I could hear the microphone being tapped. The  speakers blaze out the DJ's voice

"Isn't he fantastic? Just arrived for the tour and already set to perform. This one's a keeper I tell you! AYE?"

"AYE! AYE! AYE!"

Nash and Cameron, and all their friends seemed to have huge grins plastered onto their faces. I furred my eyebrows together, as far as I was concerned, I was  the only back up act. I couldn't see anything, but I could hear the practice strum and tuning  of a guitar. The microphone burst into life,

"I wrote this song for a girl that I never should have left."

The crowed awwed,

"It's called Never Be Alone."
