"Hold on now, the plane is starting." Tom yelled from the cockpit.

My hands were shaking.

I had flown before, never had a problem with it. Flying wasn't the issue - I knew it was one of the safest transports available. It was the prospect of jumping out of this lovely, safe plane that made me nervous.

I heard some kind of beep and the engine burst into life, the plane started to buzz up and down. Without further warning the plane suddenly jolted forwards, and started to slowly travel down the runway. I looked at what I could see through the window. The runway was appeared to be moving faster and faster as we accelerated forwards.

We took off.

I knew that when my ears popped. Outside the window, I could just see the wildflower meadow which we had happily walked through earlier. My hand crept to my hair, finding only the remains of my flower - a few petals, nothing more.

The meadow grew smaller and smaller.

I closed my eyes and sighed out.

You can't turn back now.

I relaxed my shoulders as much as I could without squishing Liam.

When I reopened my eyes and glanced out the window. All that was there was small, white, fluffy clouds, innocently dotted around the baby blue sky. I couldn't help but remember the last time I was in this situation. Sat in an aeroplane, gazing at the clouds, contemplating where my life would end up next.

You know, because going on a tour and jumping off a plane are totally the same.

But I suppose either way I have no way of knowing what turn the path, that is my life, will take.

"Ellie?"

Shawn's voice knocked me out of my little-meaningful-trance.

"Ellie?"

I turned round.

"Yeah?"

"Your hands, they, they're shaking."

I laughed nervously.

"You okay? You still sure you want to skydive?" Liam asked from over my shoulder.

"Oh, yeah. They, they are just shaking with excitement."

Nice save Ellie, nice save.

Liam took that pathetic lie as the truth and bent his head back into his headrest. Shawn however, raised an eyebrow at me and shook his head. He put an arm down on the plane floor and lent on it, leaning over the gap in between us. Well, as far as he could without pulling Geoff over.

"Elvira. Listen. Go for it. Try it. Whatever works for you."

He said softly.

"You know you want to jump, you know you'll be fine. I know, Alice knows and you know. It's normal to be scared- not going to lie, I am a little too. But just take your shot - it might be scary- but you know you'll enjoy it."

I gave him a reassured nod and turned back to the window. The fields looked a lot smaller now, and the suburbs of Chicago were clearly visible.

"Approaching 1000 ft." Tom's voice announced over the microphone.

A small flat-screen television whirred into life at the front of the cabin. This cheesy film started to play; a man looking extremely excited was preparing for a skydive: putting on his suit, stretching, meeting his instructor, signing the insurance, being rigged to his instructor and finally, jumping out of the plane. All of this, of course, complete with emotive music. As the footage of the jump played, from the ground he seemed to be going incredibly slowly but, when you saw his Go-Pro, holy crap. He looked like he was going at around the speed that my mum went, trying to get me to the airport on time- aka. VERY fast.
