Johnny POV

I opened my eyes and found myself in a white room sitting in a chair. There was a hissing noise and a sliding door opened and released swirling smoke. The tapping of heels rang in the silent room. A woman with silver hair, green eyes, and striking curves walked out of the door and sat in the chair in front of me.

"Silvanna.." I whispered. She smiled and nodded.

"John, I heard you met my brother." She chuckled. I remembered the man that insulted me.

"Yeah, I did." My lips flattened. Her smile faded.

"Evan hasn't been that honest with you, John. He's hurting, a lot. There is a lot that he is being burdened with and I can't be there with him but you can. Sit with him alone and talk to him. Please." She begged. I nodded vigorously agreeing and curious about what he hides. Black spots danced as I blacked out.

Evan POV

I woke up to the sound of screaming. Mother stormed out of the bathroom sopping wet. I sat up groggy and just looked around. Mother came in with a tray of something and placed it on the table. Father came into the room and sat on the bed.

"Hey, Evan. Sit." He pats the seat next to him. I obliged and sat. He looked at me and I looked at him.

"Have you been keeping secrets?" He asked.  I nodded hesitantly.

"Just some family stuff, you wouldn't understand," I stated nonchalantly.  He gave me a look and I just gave him a cheesy smile. I pat his leg and stood.

"Now if you'll excuse me, I have a date to prepare for," I told him before I left. I walked around town to find a spot for tomorrow. I settled on a picnic in an abandoned park. I took out my wand and made an 'X' on the ground so I can remember. I apparated near the café and ran inside.

"Twyla!" I panted. She came over with her signature toothy grin.

"What's wrong, Evan?" She asked. I explained the situation and her grin grew.

"Well, I'll make a picnic basket and you come and pick it up tomorrow." She told me. I nodded excitedly and hugged her before booking it back to the motel. On my way, I bumped into Hermione.

"H-hey." I flushed red and rubbed the back of my neck. Her brown eyes bore into my nervous green ones.

"Hey, Evan." She stated, blushing. We silently stood there a blushing mess.

"Yeah, good talk. See you tomorrow at four." I called over my shoulder as I rushed off. As I bustled myself to the motel,  I was hitting myself over the head about how I handled the situation.

"Stupid, stupid, stupid!" I banged on my head as I entered the parking lot. I sulked to the door and yanked it open. Jocelyn, Father, and Mother stood talking.

"Yes. My answer's yes, Jocelyn. Thank you." Mother said tiredly. Jocelyn was overjoyed and turned around to leave but her face brightened when she saw me.

"Evan!" She gave me one of her bone-crushing hugs, "Happy birthday! Alex didn't tell us in time or we would have thrown a party. How old are you now?"

"Seventeen, Jocelyn." I timidly stated. She hugged me again and left the room radiating joy. My parents and I stared at each other comically. There was a tapping on the window. Zephyr was there with the. mail. I ran over and let him in.

"When were you going to tell us we missed your birthday?" Mother demanded. I held my hand up as I untied the letter and opened it.

Dear Evan,

Thank you for your letter. I would be happy to hand you the post but Slughorn is needed. I spoke with Rufus Scrimgeour and he wants you in the Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes. An owl will deliver your paperwork, which is charmed so your parents won't find out, on Monday. I figured you wanted to work from home. Thanks for the heads up.

                                            Professor Dumbledore

I read the letter with a grin. I pumped my fist in the air.

"I'll be back. I have to go tell my friends something." I ran out the door and to the Weasley's. Mr. Weasley stood outside.

"Mr. Weasley! Mr. W!" I called, "I got a job!" I stopped in front of the plump man and handed him the letter. He laughed and clapped me on the back.

"Good going, Evan!" He gave me a nudge. I smiled and walked back to the motel room. They were still standing in the same positions.

"What were we talking about again?" I asked. The two sighed simultaneously.

"We were talking about how you didn't tell us about your birthday!" Mother repeated dramatically. I rolled my eyes.

" You guys wouldn't have cared. You've forgotten all of them." They looked like someone just kicked them in the teeth.

"What?!" They cried. My hands found their way to my hips.

"Name one birthday party you went to." I challenged. They didn't say anything, "Thought so." I went and put Zephyr in his cage and put the letter down with a grin.

"On a better note, I got a job," I said happily. They ran and hugged me.

"When are you starting? More importantly, what are you?" Father asked. I clasped my hands together.

"I am part of the Ministry in the UK. I start Monday." Their grins faltered.

"So, you are leaving?" Mother asked. I shook my head. A knock sounded at the door and I went to open it. A man stood there dressed sharply in a blue flannel and a Navy dinner jacket. He held a beautiful bouquet. I raised an eyebrow and shifted through his head.

" Alexis?" I asked. Ted, as I now know his name, slowly and I stepped aside to let him in. Father led him in.

"Tell me, Ted, are your parents still together?" Father interrogated the smiling man.

"No, they divorced when I was in high school." He replied politely. I crossed my arms and stared at him.

"Oh.....Alcoholism." Mother pitied. I tuned out the rest of the conversation and stared at the wall. A hand waved in front of my face. I slowly turned my head and brought the attention back to the others.

"Alexis seems to have found someone to keep her busy. What about you two?" Mother sat on the bed holding the flowers.

"I'm going to go to bed. I have to be up early." David turned to the door, "I stupidly agreed to go hunting with Stevie tomorrow." I cocked my head to the side.

"Hunting?" Father questioned. David nodded. He walked in and shut the door.

"I didn't think he had it in him," I said. They both glared at me and I raised my hands in surrender.

"What about you?" They asked.

"I got a date tomorrow." I proudly stated. Father raised his eyebrows and smiled.

"With a girl?" He asked. I rolled my eyes.

"No, with a blueberry."
