Evan POV
I sat on the couch in front of a roaring fire. There was a pop and a house-elf was next to me.
"Master, a man, and a woman named Roland and Jocelyn Schitt are here. Would Master like Ruin to let them in?" The house-elf said. I sighed and slammed my book shut.
"Yes, let them in." Roland and Jocelyn then appeared in the chairs in front of me.
"E? What happened!" Roland exclaimed. I raised my eyebrow, "Your parents just came to my house and reported you missing. I didn't call the police because I knew you would be here, but seriously." I sighed.
"I heard them arguing about money, per usual, and my name and fortune came up. When I had my meeting in London, Dad hitched a ride and I had to make him stay in my apartment there. I was listening outside the door and burst in. I felt attacked and insulted so I am of age and I thought, why not?" I said. Jocelyn
"Evan, your mother's birthday is Saturday. You need to be there." Jocelyn demanded. I protested but she gave me a look. I groaned.
"Fine." I facepalmed, "You better keep them away from me." They nodded.
"So you'll come?" They asked hopefully. I nodded. They got up and gave me grateful smiles as they left. I got up and went to my room. I picked a plain black suit and a watch as well as a ring. I grabbed my most recent letter from Hermione. This year is going to mark Year five of our relationship and I planned to propose. My fingers grazed the box.
"I can't believe I'm going to this thing." I huffed.

I entered the barn dressed in the suit I picked out earlier. I found the Schitts and walked to Alex.
"Evan, I'd like you to meet someone." She dragged me to a brunette with tanned skin and blue eyes, "This is Ariana, my new girlfriend. She knows." I smiled and stuck my hand out.
"Evan Gaunt." She grabbed my hand and shook it.
"Arianna Delacour." My eyebrow raised.
"Your Fleur's sister? You don't look like her." I asked. Arianna giggled.
"Adopted." She giggled. I nodded and bid goodbye before walking off. I had a red cup in my hands and rest my head against the wall. The lights shut off and the door opened.
"Where are all the patrons?" Mom asked.
"Well, I don't know. Do we have the wrong night?" Dad said unconvincingly. The lights turned on.
"Surprise!" We shouted. She gave a high-pitched squeal.
"What?! There's no fund-raiser? You're just here to celebrate me?" She shouted. I rolled my eyes, "Oh, never in the history of surprises has one been so delightfully blindsided." I watched as the party commenced. My eyes were covered and I felt a hot breath on my neck.
"Guess who?" A familiar voice whispered. I let a grin play on my lips.
"'Mione." She uncovered my eyes and grinned at me, "You did it? He's dead?" I asked hopefully. She nodded and sat next to me. I pulled her into a kiss.
"May I have this dance, dear?" I said cockily. She giggled and took my hand.
"Of course." I placed my hands on her waist and her arms wrapped around my neck. The Tennessee Waltz played and we stepped out on the dance floor.
"Harry, your parents, and Ron are here?" I whispered. She nodded. I put my chin on her head.
"I love you, sweetheart," I muttered.
"Ditto." She mumbled. We passed my parents as the song ended. Hermione and I pulled away and someone cleared their throat. I turned around.
"Can I help you?" I raised an eyebrow. Mom looked at Hermione.
"Aren't you going to introduce us?" She asked me. Hermione stuck her hand out. My grip on Hermione's waist tightened.
"Hermione Granger. I'm Evan's girlfriend." Mom took 'Mione's hand and shook it. David and Alexis came up to us. Hermione met the rest of my family. My fingers thrummed against my leg. Hermione then left to get some more cake. Dad then launched forward and wrapped his arms around me.
"Oh my god, your okay!" He whispered. I slowly melted into the hug.
" 'Course I'm okay." I scoffed. Mom walked over to me and put her hands on my shoulders. I looked up at her. She had tears eyes.
"I'm so so sorry that I hurt you." She choked out. I smiled and hugged her. I pulled away.
"Could you actually come with me? I have a surprise for Hermione and I want you there." I muttered. Then I turned to my girlfriend.
"Sweetheart, I have somethings to take care of. Would you mind waiting for me at my place?" She nodded and narrowed her eyes at me. I grinned as she left the room.
"So what's the surprise?" David asked me. I clasped my hands together.
"So, Hermione and I are going on to five years now-" Alexis interrupted.
"You're going to propose?" She questioned. I blushed and she started squealing. I reached into my back pocket and pulled out the ring. It was a silver band that held a red ruby. The engraving on the back said Forever and Always.
"It's beautiful." Mom told me. I smiled.
"I'm going to get my friends and be back. If she comes, don't let her in." I ran out of the building and apparated to where Harry and the rest were.
"Evan!" They shouted. I launched into an explanation about my plan. They nodded and we all apparated back to the barn. The barn was emptying and my friends went into the barn.
"Mr. and Mrs. Granger!" I called. They stayed back, "C-can I ask 'Mione to marry me?" The two smiled. Mrs. Granger gripped me by the shoulders.
"Yes, you may. On one condition, give us grandkids."She laughed. I breathed a sigh of relief and apparated home to get Hermione. She sat reading a book.
" Sweetheart?" She looked up, "C'mon." I grabbed her. We appeared by the barn and went inside. Everyone moved into the shadows as I took Hermione by the hand to the middle of the room.
"Can you believe it? Going on to five years now of dating." I chuckled. She smiled at me. My hand grabbed the box. I turned to Hermione and got on my knee and flipped the box open. She looked at me shocked.
"Hermione Jean Granger, when you and I met during our years at Hogwarts I knew you'd be the person I'd spend an eternity with. Hermione, will you do me the honor and be my wife?" She had tears flowing steadily down her face.
"Yes!"
