I sat alone in the park reading a book on the Goblin Wars. Hermione sent it to me over owl mail. I heard footsteps and my head shot up. My body became still and my eyes narrowed. The footsteps came closer and I shot up with my wand out. Uncle Tom stood behind me with his snake.

"Evan. Come here." He rasped. I glared at him and the snake. I stepped back.

"Stay away," I said firmly. He took a step closer to me.

"Stupefy!" I jet of red light shot at his feet from the end of my wand. My eyes looked for an escape desperately and I saw purple light. My shield went up. I jogged backward and kept shooting spells. My earthly teacher disappeared and I flew off. I landed on top of the motel and shakily sat down with my book.

"Ev? Dear? What are you doing up there?" Mother called to me. I jumped and looked down. I gave a small wave and jumped down. I took a deep inhale and looked at them.

"I-I was just chilling." I stuttered. They were wearing white but I learned not to question it. I went into the motel room. Zephyr tapped at my window again and I removed the letters and paperwork from her leg. I waved my wand and the quills floated out on the table and set themselves up. I read through Hermione's letter and the letter from the Ministry and planned to set out for London the next day.

Big time skip

My hand ran over my tired face as I held my hand above my speech. I ran a hand over my face annoyed.

"Salazar, I'm never going to get this finished,"  I muttered tiredly. I put my quill into the pot and got dressed in my pajamas. I grabbed the book I was reading earlier and sat in the chair. I flipped to page 47 and started reading. Not a moment later, Dad came stumbling in with Mom in tow. I looked up and furrowed my eyebrows.

"Evy!" They stumbled to me. I huffed and stood up.

"High or drunk?" I asked. Mom held her fingers close together.

"Little too much grass." She slurred. I sighed.

"This'll be fun." I huffed. I opened my trunk and rummaged through for some Sleeping Draught.  The two viles were next to my socks. I pulled them out and uncapped the bottles.

"Drink." I gave them the bottles. They sniffed them and made a face.

"What is this?" Dad asked. I rolled my eyes.

"It'll make you feel better tomorrow."I coaxed. They drank the viles and passed out on the bed. I sighed and moved to place pillows under their heads and then covered them with blankets. Then I climbed on my own bed and fell asleep.
