Evan met Reddington at the cafe for lunch.

"Evan!" Reddington hugged him.

"Ray." Evan smiled. The two walked in and sat at a booth.

"So, who's the lucky girl?" Reddington smirked. Evan turned red.

"H-Her name's He-Hermione." Evan stammered. Reddington laughed.

"You still get flushed when you think about her?" Reddington smirked. Evan rolled his eyes.

"How's Liz?" He asked.

"She's doing okay. Lizzie's out of the hospital now." Reddington informed Evan. Evan waved down Twyla and placed their orders.

"That's good. What happened?" Evan cocked his head to the side.

"She was shot in the stomach." Twyla brought their food over.

"Thank you, dear." Reddington smiled at her. Twyla appeared uncomfortable and scrambled to getaway. The two spoke happily as they ate but they didn't realize that Johnny was watching a few booths away.

Now, Evan sat in St. Mungos's waiting room.

"Mr. Gaunt?" A healer entered the room with a clipboard. Evan stood up and walked over to her. He held out his hand and Evan shook it.

"I'm Mr. Cunningham, I'll be your healer today. Follow me to the back, please." Evan nodded and followed. He was brought into a well-lit room. A gray bed was pushed against the wall and the opposite wall was covered in cabinets. He removed his robe and laid it neatly across the two chairs near the covered windows.

"Shall we?" They proceeded with the appointment. After, the healer left. Evan felt a pit of dread start to develop in his stomach. Cunningham came back into the room with a look of despair etched into his features.

"Minister is there a history of prostate cancer in your family?" Cunningham questioned. Evan raised his eyebrows.

"Not that I know of. Why? Do I have it?"

"Yes." Evan felt like his world was crashing down. He couldn't muster the words to respond. Cunningham sat down next to Evan.

"Minister, sir, you're lucky. We've caught it in the early stages. This means we can treat it, but it's important for you to get support from friends and family." Cunningham comforted the man. Evan ran a hand down his face.

"How am I going to tell my fiance?" Evan asked aloud. Cunningham pursed his lips.

"I can't help you there, Minister Gaunt. Congratulations, though." The two stood up and shook hands.

"Thank you for seeing me, Mr. Cunningham." Evan gave the elderly man a strained smile.

"Your treatments start Monday."

Hermione and Evan sat together on the white sofa. In front of them, on the intricately carved coffee table, was a wizarding chess set. Two chandeliers hung overhead and a fire raged in the fireplace. Every wall except the one to Hermione's left and behind the couple was a light brick. Two windows brightened the room. The two were in casual clothes. Hermione a tank top and shorts and Evan a Hogwarts hoodie and sweats. The two discussed the final preparations for their wedding.

"Knight to D-5," Evan said with a smirk. Hermione glared at him as the night smashed her pawn.

"You're an arse, you know," Hermione said. Evan smiled but it soon vanished. He turned to her and grabbed her hands. Evan kissed them gently.

"Sweetheart, you know I love you to the moon and back, right?" Evan asked.

"What's going on? You're scaring me."

"I visited St. Mungos today for my wellness checkup and they found irregularities. Further testing was done and-" She interrupted him.

"Where?" Hermione asked. Evan chuckled.

"I was just getting to that. They diagnosed me with prostate cancer in the early stages." Hermione let out a strangled sob. Evan grabbed both sides of her face and wiped away her tears.

"Hey, hey, hey, we'll get through this. Treatments start Monday." He smiled at her. Hermione sighed and rested her head on his chest.

"We're gonna figure this out, right?" Hermione asked.

"Right."
