"-but this time is just different. I love you so much.." A second passes by in silence, and then you hear, "Did, did I do something wrong? Are you upset with me-" Your eyes shoot open. You see Scott sitting on the edge of the bed. He's wearing a tank top and pajama pants, and he has a toothbrush in his mouth. He's looking at his phone, listening to the messages you sent him last night. You slowly sit up, rubbing your eyes. Scott looks quickly at you, and embraces you tightly. He tries to say something, but can't because of the toothbrush in his mouth. He pulls away, putting a finger up, signaling for you to wait. He sprints out of the room, and you hear him spitting and rinsing his mouth. He runs back in, and resumes holding you. You put your arms around him too, happy to see him. You stay quiet for the time being, savoring the moment. You put your nose to his shoulder, breathing in his scent again. For whatever reason, you feel as though he is back to being his old self. He pulls away and looks you in the eyes. You smile at him, and he smiles back. He looks down and says, "I'm sorry." You bring your hand up to his cheek and caress it. "You want to tell me what happened? With Brian?" "I got scared.." "Of what?" "Of-" He's interrupted by a frail voice that says, "Scottie, can you give me a hand, sweetie?" He looks back at you and says, "You remember Mawmaw, right? Come on, let's go see her!" His urgency to see his grandma gives you the impression that he's trying to avoid the subject.

As Scott leads you to the kitchen where his grandma is, you struggle to decide whether it's better to leave the situation alone, or to push him for details so he's not keeping it down. When you enter the kitchen, you see Scott's grandma bent over, trying to grab something from the back of the bottom shelf. "I'm trying to reach that last pack of bacon down there, could you grab it for me?" As Scott gets down to grab it, his grandma stands up straight, and she notices you standing behind. "Ah, (Y/N)! How's that cheek treating ya?" You lightly touch your cheek, remembering it got scratched last night. "Oh, it's alright." "Good." She grabs her walker and slowly makes her way towards you. She grabs a newspaper off the counter, rolls it up, and hits you in the head with it. "Now what in the gods names were you thinking coming all the way out here on a full moon?!" "I'm sorry, I didn't realize it was a full moon." "Well why'd you come all the way out here anyway?" "I was worried about Scott, so I wanted to see him, no matter what." Her slightly peeved face softens as she gives you a look of intrigue. "I see." She walks back over to Scott and looks at the bacon. "Oh Scott, dearie, this bacon has gone bad. Could you run to the store and get some more?" "Sure Mawmaw, lemme just get dressed first!" As he jogs out of the room, you look back at the bacon. It's still good for another few days. "But the package says-" "I know." You just stand awkwardly until Scott comes out wearing a sweatshirt and jeans. "You ready to go (Y/N)?" Before you answer, Scott's grandma says, "Actually, (Y/N), could you stay and help me? I've got a lot of mouths to feed." "Uh, yeah. Sure." Scott smiles at your willingness to help, and he gives his grandma a kiss on the head, and you the same. He slips on some boots, another jacket, and some earmuffs, and heads out the door. His grandma asks you, "Now dearie, would you be so kind as to break these eggs into this bowl?" You walk up to the counter and start breaking open some eggs and putting them into a big glass bowl. His grandma gets out a big pan and puts it on the stove, tossing some bacon on it. She turns on the stove and begins cooking it. You finish cracking 2 1/2 cartons of eggs into the bowl. Once Scott's grandma notices, she grabs a fork, handing it to you. "Start whisking them for me please." You do as you're told and Scott's grandma takes the bacon off the pan, putting it on a plate on the other side of her. She puts more bacon in the pan. As you're really in the whisking zone, she puts her hand on your head, giving it a good pat. The unexpected contact causes you to tense up slightly, but you're mostly unbothered. Once you feel as though you've done enough, you present the eggs. "Good, now do you know how to make scrambled eggs?" "Yes." "In the cupboard below you, there is a pan. Get it out, and start frying eggs on it. Don't try to do it all at once, you'll need to do it a few times." You reach in and grab the pan she was referring to. You put it on the stove and pour some of the eggs in, letting them cook.

Once you finish your first batch, Scott's grandma hands you a big plate to put the eggs on. You put them on and start a new batch. Scott's grandma let's out a small sigh and says, "(Y/N), honey, I want to.." She thinks for a moment. "No, I need to thank you." Assuming she's referring to breakfast, you say, "Oh, it's no problem at all." However, you assumed wrong. "I'm not talking about breakfast." You give her a confused look. "Thank you for taking care of my little Scottie." "What do you mean?" She sighs. "As I'm sure you know, Scott's heart has a lot of love in it." She pauses. "But not everyone deserves that love. You're not the first monster he's brought home before. But you are the first monster that's been interested in him for over 3 weeks. He's brought others home, and after awhile, they moved on. They were already looking to date someone else. Eventually, it took a toll. He started thinking that no one really wanted him, and he would be alone forever. I'm one of the only people who he can open up to anymore. For everyone else, he's just a happy-go-lucky boy that's there to lift everyone's spirits." She continues frying the bacon. Just as you think the conversation is over, she adds one more thing. "I'm not going to be around forever, my time will come soon enough, and when it does, that boy will fall apart." She turns to you, grabs one of your hands with both of hers and says, "Please, promise me, as my dying wish, that you will be there to pick up the pieces." You put your free hand on hers, "I promise Grandma Howl." She smiles, "Please darling, call me Mawmaw." You smile back at her.

She finishes the bacon and a few minutes later, you finish the eggs. Mawmaw says, "Now, do me one more favor and grab the 2 cartons of orange juice in the fridge please." You get them out and put them on the table. Mawmaw walks over to a bell that's hung up on the wall, and starts ringing it very loudly. "Alright, kids!! Breakfast is ready!!!" Loud thumping is heard as a large group of werewolves, big and small, run to the kitchen. Each and every one of them tackle eachother in a race to get to the table first. They all have the bear minimum of clothing on, being underwear, and you blush from either embarrassment or slight arousal. Or both. Mawmaw puts her fingers in her mouth and loudly whistles. "All of you! Put some damn clothes on! We have a guest!" They look at Mawmaw, then you, and run back to their rooms and get dressed. Scott walks in the door, carrying about four different bags. "I didn't know which one to get, so I got some of each!" He puts his arms out, presenting the bags. Mawmaw laughs, "Oh Scottie, dearie, I'm so sorry! It turns out the bacon was just fine, it's just these darn eyes of mine, they must be starting to go." "Aww, Mawmaw.." Scott drops the bags on the floor, "I could've read it for you." He gently places his hand on her back. She squints at him and says, "Now since when do you know how to read?" Scott's eyes widen as he looks nervously from you to his grandma. "I uh.." He looks down and touches the tips of his fingers together in a shy way. "I've been learning how.. To read.." She chuckles. "And why is that?" His face grows pink. He glances at you again. "I just.. Want to.." She pats him on the head and says, "Okay then. If you want, you and (Y/N) can eat in your room." Scott's eyes light up and his tail happily wags. He turns to you, "Okay, you get the food on the plates, I'll pour the juice! Hurry!" Scott quickly hands you two empty plates and you start putting food on them. You understand why he told you to hurry when you hear the rumbling of thundering footsteps approaching the kitchen. You quickly get the rest of the food you need and you and Scott dash out of the room. You're too late however, and werewolves shove past you. One of the plates flies through the air, but Scott jumps up and catches it with his mouth. He puts one glass of orange juice in his hand and uses his other to help you pull through. You make it past the swarm of energetic bodies and body odor and sit down in Scott's room. You're slightly traumatized, and Scott apologizes, "I'm sorry (Y/N), they get really crazy after a full moon." You just look at him as you slowly begin laughing. After seeing you're okay, he laughs too. You eat breakfast together, and you check the time to see it's 11:30. Scott checks too, and says, "Aw, dang! You need to be home by noon!" "Huh?" He looks at you nervously, "Well, when I woke up, the first thing I thought after seeing you was that your mom would be really mad. And I know you're phone password, so I asked Mawmaw to text your mom as you so you didn't get in trouble. We told her you were eating breakfast with a friend. I hope that's okay." You hug Scott around his neck, trying not to cry. You sniffle, "Thank you so much, I probably would've gotten in so much more trouble if you hadn't done that." He hugs you back for a brief moment before you pull away, stuffing the rest of the food in your mouth. You quickly get dressed and leave, getting home before you know it. Scott stops in front of your house, "Well, bye (Y/N)." "Bye. See you on Monday?" He smiles, "Yeah." You kiss him on the cheek and exit the car. You give him one final wave before entering your house.
