The sound of your alarm clock echoes in your ears. Once you gain consciousness, you quickly lunge for your phone, wanting to get the alarm turned off as soon as possible, so you're not making a bunch of noise. You sigh as you finally get it turned off, feeling relieved. You stare up at the ceiling for a little bit, not wanting to do anything, wishing to yourself that you could just show up to prom right here and now. You look down at your phone, seeing that Vera texted you about 40 minutes ago. 'Hey. I'll be around to pick you up at about noon. Got it?' You sigh again and type back, 'Yes ma'am.' Within a few minutes, she replies, 'Don't call me that.' You chuckle, sending back another 'Yes ma'am,' and she leaves you on read. You look at your clock. It's only just now 9:45. You groan as you wait for time to pass.

Some time passes by before anything else happens. At around 11:20, there is a soft knock on your bedroom door. On the other side, you hear your mom's voice, "(Y/N), sweetie... May I come in?" "No." She sighs, "Please, honey. I just want to apologize to you." "Then do it through the door." "Come on, honey. Please?" "I said no!" She groans, "Fine. Listen, sweetie, I think we can both agree that last night got a little heated. We may have said a few things we didn't mean, and I think we should make up. You know, let bygones be bygones. How about I take you out for lunch, and we can have that movie night." You feel the anger rushing to you again. "No, mom! Maybe you didn't mean what you said to me, but you still said it! And I meant every word that I said to you, so don't speak for me! I do hate you, so leave me alone!" "Ugh, whatever! Just stay in there! Don't say I never made an effort to support you!" You cover your mouth as if you're trying to prevent yourself from saying anything else. You listen to her heavy, frustrated footsteps fade as she walks away.

A bit more time passes when Vera texts you. She's right on time, saying that she's here to get you, and it's exactly noon. You text her, 'Alright, give me a minute.' You put your backpack on. You take your suitcase and set it outside your window, and then you do the same with the plastic bags. You climb out your window. Using all the strength you can muster, you throw your suitcase over the fence, hearing it thud against the ground on the other side. You grab the plastic bags in your hands and jump up, getting over the fence. You pull your suitcase along with you as you walk to Vera's car.

You walk up to the driver's window and Vera gives you a confused look. She asks, "What's all that junk?" You shyly look at the road under you, replying with, "I don't really want to talk about it... Can I just bring it along?" Vera says nothing as she presses a button to pop open her trunk, letting you put all your things in it. You get into the passenger's seat, surprised to see no one else in the car. As if she read your mind, Vera says, "Zoe, Miranda, and Val are waiting at my place. Everyone is going to meet there too, so we better be quick if we want to surprise everyone." You smile and nod, buckling up before Vera drives off toward her house.

Vera pulls up to her house. She asks, "You excited?" You smile slightly, still feeling shy, and say, "Yes I am!" She smiles, "Good. Because this will be a night you won't forget." You walk behind Vera as you go inside her house. Mr. Oberlin says, "Welcome back, cupcake!" He gives her a quick hug and he turns to you, "And welcome back to you, (Y/N). How have you been?" He holds his hand out to you, and you firmly grab it in your hand, shaking it. "I'm doing well, Mr. Oberlin. How about you?" He laughs, "I am just swell! I'm excited to see my wonderful, beautiful daughters off, going to another year of prom!" Vera smiles again, "Well, we've got no time to lose. I'm sure the other three are ready to start."

Vera leads you to her room, where Valerie, Miranda, and Zoe are all talking to each other in pajamas. Zoe suddenly stands up as you walk in, and she rushes over to you, wrapping her arm and tentacle around your body in a tight hug. She excitedly shouts, "O! M! G! (Y/N), are you excited?" You smile and shake your head. Zoe continues, "You better be! My first prom ever was last year, and it was the best night of my life! And I've been around since the beginning of time!" You reply, "Oh yeah? Well, I look forward to it. So... What do we need to do?" Vera says, "We've already taken showers, so if you want to too, you can go ahead. We'll wait. You can use any of our products, too." "Yeah, I'd like that," you reply. Miranda and Zoe both offer you some of their things to use. You end up using some of Miranda's shampoo and conditioner since she admittedly has some of the best hair you've ever seen.

After taking a quick shower, you get redressed in the same clothes you were wearing before. When you get back to the room, Zoe and Miranda are already in their dresses. Zoe blushes in embarrassment, "Sorry, (Y/N)... We got excited." You chuckle, "It's okay. I get it." Vera says, "Eh, it's the next step anyway, so might as well get them on." Vera and Valerie get up and grab their dresses from out of their closets, and Vera grabs your outfit, handing it to you as well. You take off your normal clothes and get your outfit on. With everyone now in their outfits, you each take the time to make sure everything is perfect. You make sure everything is straight, you use a lint roller to get any of Valerie's fur off you, and you make sure there are no wrinkles. After all that has been confirmed, the girls move on to doing their makeup.

It doesn't take them too long to get their makeup done, especially since Zoe and Valerie decide not to wear any. Vera puts on a little, and Miranda goes all out, which is the norm for her anyway. It's not long after that that there's a knock at the door. Mr. Oberlin pops his head in the door. "Excuse me, ladies, your friends are beginning to arrive." Valerie asks, "Is Vera's hot date here yet?" Vera and her snakes hiss as they look at Valerie, all their eyes glowing red as a bright pink blush spreads across Vera's face. Mr. Oberlin chuckles, "No, not yet. But someone else's hot date is." Mr. Oberlin looks at you and winks.
