29. Date Night (Part 1)

Your alarm wakes you up. You find yourself back in Scott's bed. You sit up straight, and Scott isn't there. As you're about to get up, Scott walks back inside carrying two bowls of cereal. After noticing you're awake, he says, "Good morning. I woke up and took us home. I also got you breakfast." He hands you your bowl of cereal and you start eating. He sits down next to you and you two eat while watching YouTube. Once you finish, you both get ready for the day together and head off to school. Being the 'special guest', you get to ride shotgun while the rest of the Wolfpack stay in the back. They must have had a long night because they're nearly silent the whole time. Once you get to school every gets out of the car and start walking inside. On the way, you see Leonard's mom holding Leonard's hand as they walk into the school together. It's pretty refreshing to see that happening to someone else for a change. When he sees you, he flips you off, and his mom smacks the back of his head. The rest of the day continues normally, and now that you don't have Leonard to worry about, you make to all of your classes on time. You're able to sit with your friends at lunch, and you dominate the dodgeball game with Scott at your side. According to others, Leonard has to sit next to the teacher's desk in every class he's in. When 9th period rolls around, you see this for yourself. You take your seat next to Amira like you always should, and spend most of the class ridiculing Leonard. Towards the end of the period, Amira changes the subject. "Hey, now that you have your life back for the next few days, you should totally come with us to this great steakhouse. It's gonna be me, Oz, Vera, and Zoe. Scott loves that place too, so he'll probably go if you do." "Will I have to dress fancy?" "You can get away with the bare minimum." "Okay, sounds fun." You gather your things, go to your locker, and walk out to Scott's car and see him waiting for you. When he sees you, he jogs up and gives you a hug. He tells you, "Vera asked me if I wanted to go to this steakhouse place tonight, you wanna come?" "Yeah, Amira said the same thing." You smile at eachother and get in his car. Once you get back to his house, you do your homework together until it's time to go. You put on your best sweater, your not sweatpants, and you leave.

Along the car ride, Scott excitedly talks about his favorite foods at the restaurant. You happily listen to him, and you finally make it to the place. After waiting in the car for a few minutes, you hear a knock at the car window. It's Zoe. She opens the door, and tells you Vera and Amira couldn't make it. Oz waves to you from behind her. The four of you go inside and wait for someone to take you to a table. A beautiful water nymph comes up, and asks, "How many will be dining tonight?" Zoe says, "Four!" The nymph gives Zoe and Oz a suspicious look. She says, "Hang on a second, haven't you two already-" Zoe interrupts, "No! Not us! We haven't been here in a while!" Zoe seems to be nervous about something, and you give her a look. To which she responds with, "I'm okay! Why do you ask?" You turn away, still very confused about what's going on.

You are led to a booth and you all take your seats, browsing at the menu. You sit across from Oz, and next to Scott. As you look at the menu, Scott happily talks about what he's going to get, and he recommends things for you. After waiting another minute, you are approached by the waitress. "Well, hi there diners! What can I get you guys to drink?" You look up to see that Vicky is the waitress. You say, "Oh hey Vicky. I didn't know you work here." "Oh yeah! I've been working here for the past few months." "Is it nice working here?" "Oh, I love it!" Another lady working there says, "'ey Schmidt! After yer done there, some kid spilled 'is orange juice, and it's yer turn to clean it up!" Vicky gives a thumbs up, smiles, and says, "It's rough sometimes.. So what do you want to drink?" As you start to say what you want, Zoe's phone starts ringing. She picks it up, "Hello? Oh heyyy mom. Yup just out with friends. Oh.. Oz's mom didn't want him going out tonight? I'm so sorry! Yeah we'll be home soon." Zoe hangs up, "Well, we gotta bounce, sorry guys." Zoe and Oz get up, and start walking away. Confused, Scott says, "Wait.. I thought they didn't have moms?" You reply, "They don't.. Did they even walk in the direction of an exit?" You look back at Vicky, who looks nervous. "So? Drinks?" You decide not to question whatever the hell is happening and order. After a few minutes, she returns with the drinks and takes your order. After you order, you and Scott sit and talk about how the day has been going. Once your food arrives you start eating, and talking about what you should do after dinner. Scott says, "Well, it's a really clear night. You wanna look at the stars?" You smile, "I'd love that." After you finish, you tell Scott you need to use the restroom, and leave the booth. After he tells you where it is, you make your way over there. As you walk to the bathroom, you notice Vera, Amira, Zoe and Oz. You use the restroom, and when you come out, you walk over to them. You and Zoe make eye contact, and she immediately breaks it. "What's going on?" After Amira chokes on her food in surprise, they all look at eachother. Zoe says, "I'm trying out eating regular food instead of sanity." "Try again." Vera tells you, "Alright, you caught us. You and Scott haven't been on a proper date yet so we tricked you guys into coming here so we could eventually leave you alone for the evening." "Well, why don't you just tell Scott to take me on a 'proper date'? Or why couldn't you just eat with us and be on a triple date, instead of this double date?" "Alright, 1, Scott doesn't know what a proper date really is. 2, it's hardly ever you two alone, you're usually with someone else. And 3, this isn't a double date." You squint at all four of them. "Really? This isn't a date? You expect me to believe that?" Vera and Zoe blush, and look at Amira and Oz respectively, who avoid eye contact. You laugh, and say, "Welp, looks like the cat is out of the bag. Anyways, thanks for the assistance with the date, but please don't meddle in anymore. See ya tomorrow at school." You salute them as you walk away, leaving them to sort out the situation they are now in. You get back to Scott, who has already paid and has everything taken care of. He holds his arm out to you, and you lock your arm with his as you exit the restaurant.
