Author's Note : Merry Christmas everyone! Here's to an additional chapter as a christmas gift for everyone. I also have two things to say.
The first is that, as hard as it is to believe, this story has been published for over a year now. I have to partially thank everyone who read and commented for giving me the motivation to continue. Thank you.
The second is: I did not forget about the 4 chapters I owe due to my break. Production has been slow, but they are still in my mind, and will be made eventually. I might release them one by one sporadically alongside other chapters. With all that said, enjoy the chapter, and here's to another year of Lilia's Tale!

Lunch was surprisingly silent, thinking we would be talking about that imperial stalker. Instead, Father seemed bothered the whole time, likely thinking about something.
As we left the inn we ate at, Father decided we would go back to our rooms.
"The fact they asked where we were staying seems off. They might need us for something due to what happened, and were expecting to reach us that way."
"But why would the guard know about it?"
"He probably expects us to get punished for what happened. Considering how angry he seemed, he probably asked that for himself, or expecting us to get arrested or something along those lines."
"Ah, that makes sense."
Thus, we headed back to our inn. As we approached, we noticed a group of three soldiers in front of it. My initial thought was that we indeed were about to be arrested, as the castle guard expected. However, once one of them noticed us, he went inside and came back out shortly after with another, taller man with significantly shinier and oddly recognizable armor. The group then headed towards us.
"Hello again, Great One. And his daughter."
"Hello again, General," Father replied.
"It seems there have been distraught brought to you. May I have some of your time to discuss it in private? Preferably some place nobody else will hear us."
"Would some place in the castle do? I don't think an inn's walls are thick enough to stop conversations from being eavesdropped."
"I believe it would do."
Everyone then headed off towards the castle as I was left out of the conversation. I followed, not having much other choice, as I tried to remember who this Sanders was. I remembered that we met recently, but with everything that has been happening recently, including the stalker situation...
The stalker situation was most likely what had 'brought us distraught' meaning that he had something to do with it. The fact I couldn't quite remember who he was meant I wasn't able to know just what I was to expect out of him.
As I tried as I could to make the best of my memory, we arrived. I had to get back to reality and stop my thinking to follow them into the castle, back into a familiar room: where we were temporarily put upon arrival. I entered first, followed by Father, then the colonel, who closed the door behind us.
"So you said you wanted to talk about something?" Father started.
"Yes. It seems there has been some sort of misunderstanding in regards to one of my soldiers, the one I told to keep an eye out for the girl."
"The person that has been following us? So he didn't lie when he said he worked for the city's security guards."
"Yes. After hearing of the confirmation of the status of Yokai of your daughter, I ordered one of the security guards to keep an eye for her. As you know, while Yokais have become more accepted for the last two years, we are still very sceptical of their presence. After all, they are still demons, so they are more likely to hurt humans."
