Somehow, the tone of her voice and the slight break in her voice despite the apparant enthusiasm made the situation quite powerful, giving me motivation to try my best as part of the student council. I wasn't sure how long that motivation would last, but I figured I should ride upon that wave of excitement.
I asked Lynn for more information in regards to patrols and how exactly it goes on. She seemed delighted and interested in my sudden growth in interest and led us throughout the school to explain to us the different patrol paths, the places to be weary of, and how exactly we would have to handle situations.
To my surprise, the patrol paths were quite simple. They were basically a simple check of each floor one after another, and while students were in free time, it would involve checking for the first floor, the outside gardens and sometimes the hallways in the dormitory or the other buildings. It was a lot of space to cover, but considering we would be three people, it shouldn't be too difficult.
As for how to handle situations, we went to eat lunch first. Surprisingly, we didn't talk much while eating. Instead, we stayed silent and went directly to the student council room afterwards. There were two other people who Lynn introduced as the vice-president and the treasurer. She also said their names, but I didn't really pay attention.
She then explained about a registry that we would have to fill up with the names of the people that created problems, when it was, where it was and what it was about. I was afraid that would mean we would have to learn about the names of every student. Thankfully, she explained that inputting the class of a student was already enough and that having the name itself was simply better.
It was quite the relief for me, though I could tell that Sayuri was still taking it very seriously purely from how she acted and looked. I was a bit worried she might be taking it too seriously at first, but figured she would be fine and that I could always help her if necessary.
Some more talk about the registry was done until Lynn was asked by the treasurer and had to go. We looked into it a little more, primrily checking for Sayuri's questions and uncertainties, before leaving the student council room.
"So, how are you?" I asked?
"Let's go patrol!" she enthusiastically said.
I was a bit taken aback by the reaction but decided to simply accept. We went ahead and looked around the place, primarily the garden. There wasn't much going on as most students were simply relaxing. On the way, we met up with Julle who instantly called and ran for us. It startled Sayuri as she hid behind me.
"Hey girls! I heard you will both be on patrol duty?"
"Ah. Yeah, Lynn said Sayu-"
"That's great!" he cut me. "You were already patroling yes?"
"Ah. Well, yea-"
"Perfect! Anything to report?"
I was getting quite annoyed at his constant cutting. However, being technically my boss, I didn't want to make any rude remark, so I kept it to myself.
"No, there wasn't."
"Great to hear! Where did you patrol?"
I thoroughly explained to him our patrol route. He seemed very attentive, unlike his usual very hyperactive self. Once I was done explaining to him, he simply nodded, thanked us, and left. I didn't know what to make of all this. I stared at Sayuri, who suddenly got...Shy? Scared? I couldn't quite tell.
"Is something wrong?" I asked.
"Ah. Uhm..." she said before shaking her head no.
I was now beyond confused. I had no idea how she felt or what she was thinking, but I knew I couldn't simply let her be like this. I looked up at the sun to have an idea of what time it was and noticed we still had some time left, so I offered to go to the training area. I still wanted to help her with her magic, as much as I could.
I offered her, and she thought about it for a bit before accepting. We headed there, and I was struck with a powerful headache before even entering. I didn't know what it was at first, but I figured it might be water magic being cast again. However, since I didn't know what spell had been cast, I couldn't safely dispel it as I couldn't afford to simply dispel any magic I was casting due to my wings.
"Lilia?" Sayuri asked.
I wasn't in a shape to respond, so I simply went towards the dormitory. Slowly. The headache wasn't going away at all. As I was slowly moving forward, I noticed a couple of students going towards the main building.
"Master," Alice said.
"Not now," I replied as I could in my head.
"Master, students are talking about some magic that went rogue, that they lost control over."
"So it IS that. Ugh. This is gonna be much more difficult than I anticipated."
"I can go look for you?"
"No, let's not create problems because you appear again."
I could tell something happened to Alice, but I couldn't manage enough mental strength to check what it was or ask her. Instead I heard a deep voice I didn't recognise call my name. As I looked, it seemed to be a teacher.
"Is everything okay?" the man asked me.
I still couldn't answer. My pouding headache prevented me from moving my mouth, as I was already trying my best to walk towards the dormitory. I could hear Sayuri trying to explain something, but I couldn't quite understand what she was saying.
The two of them kept trying to help me, or so I thought. I wasn't in any state to handle anybody else, however, so I tried to ignore them. Until I felt my consciousness fade away and my body fall to the floor.
I woke up, still on the floor, the teacher trying to either wake or carry me up. They seemed taken aback, so I probably woke up nearly instantly. I sat up and noticed my headache was gone.
"What happened Lilia?" Sayuri asked.
"I...quite frankly don't really know myself. I just had a pounding headache and it's gone now."
Considering it was very likely that the headache was caused by that water magic that they lost control over, I was wondering if said magic had now disappeared and that it was the reason for my headache to be gone. I asked Alice to check, since she could hear where I couldn't. However, she wasn't answering my call, which worried me deeply.
The teacher asked me some questions, though I wasn't exactly listening and only answered as basically as I could. Instead, I tried to hear towards the training area, as I vaguely remembered what Alice told me. It took a bit, but I finally gathered some information. The magic that had gone out of control was now gone. It confirmed what I thought was the cause of my headache, and why it was now gone. I sighed, which was picked up by the two of them.
"Is something wrong?" the teacher asked.
"I only now realised just how difficult school life is going to be for me..."
