Chapter 11: A nasty surprise

The next morning, I told the girls what had happened.

"Oh, Malfoy is so dead now," grumbled Jade.

"Yeah, like what exactly is his problem anyways?" spat Daphne.

"At least the Christmas holidays are here," smiled Cassidy.

"Yes, and you're all spending it with me! My parents are taking us to the Alps too," I giggled.

"Really?" gasped Jade.

"Yup," I popped the 'p'.

"Which part?" asked Daphne.

"Monaco. It's both wealthy, lavish, safe and contains the Alps," I answered.

"Oh, I'm so excited! We'll come back looking all the more fancier," squealed Cass excitedly.

That day, I realised that Potter and the Weasleys were nowhere to be found in Hogwarts. They had vanished.

"Where do you think they've gone?" Asked Cassidy. Just then, Daphne came walking up to us grimly.

"I was just told that apparently the Weasleys' father was attacked by a snake. At the Ministry. Merlin knows what was going on, but it seems like that's all anyone knows. Umbridge is livid that they disappeared under her nose." I frowned. Attacked by a snake? Was this something to do with Voldemort? I knew that he really was back -my father was a Death Eater.

"Imagine if Weasley Senior didn't make it," smirked Malfoy haughtily, "Wouldn't that be nice?"

"Shut your mouth, you heartless bastard," I snapped, angered. He looked surprised.

"Since when did you care about the Weasleys, Roxy?"

"Who said I did?" I retorted loftily, "Despising someone is one thing, but giving them a death wish is something completely different. You can't just hope someone dies, and especially in this scenario. It's horrible. Do you really have no conscience?" I may be proud, sassy and sometimes mean, but I wasn't completely heartless. Malfoy didn't know what to say, so he simply smirked before sauntering off with his goons.

"What a jerk," I muttered, and the girls agreed.

We were on the Hogwarts Express, heading back to London. The girls were spending the night at mine, and we were leaving for Monaco tomorrow.

"I'm so looking forward to this," exclaimed Jade brightly.

"It's gonna be so fun!" Agreed Daphne, brushing down her blonde hair.

"Roxy, your family is so nice to let us come along!" gushed Cass. I smiled pleasantly.

The train pulled into Kings' Cross Station and we disembarked. Our luggage was carried down for us. I spotted my mother, Kathleen Sylmore, standing rather regally at a distance from the crowd. My mother was dressed in her usual expensive winter furs.

"Look, there she is!" I exclaimed, and we walked over to her. She gave us a smile as we approached.

"Roxy, dear, it's good to see you," she kissed my cheek, then turned to my friends, "and you must be Jade Campbell, Daphne Greengrass and Cassidy Rookwest. Roxy was written to me all about you. It's wonderful to finally meet you all."

"It's good to meet you too, Mrs Sylmore," smiled Cassidy shyly.

"Please, call me Elaine," she answered.

"Thank you for having us, er, Elaine," thanked Jade.

"A pleasure, my dear."

"Elaine, I do believe we have met before," smiled Daphne.
